“Best on the island”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

We took the 2 PM trip like a lot of other reviewers, and like them saw a ton of dolphins. What they say is true, the dolphins come to their boat. I saw a couple tour operators on the water with us and it seemed their plan was "follow Captain Derek's boat".

Not part of the tour, but we recovered a windsurf board and looked for its owner (it was just floating in the bay) and helped look for a shrimp boat in distress. I could tell the captain and the crew were true mariners and not just tour operators.

“Family had a great time. Lots of dolphins”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

We did the afternoon tour after our scheduled sunset tour was cancelled due to weather (big thunderstorm) earlier in the week. Needless to say, we saw a lot of dolphins. Dolphins swimming together. Dolphins next to the boat. Dolphins jumping in the wake. We even saw a baby dolphin up close swimming next to its mother. The kids are still talking about that one. The first mate was very friendly answering questions, took a picture for us on the boat afterwards, etc. The boat had plenty of room. I would definitely recommend this.

“Hoping to See More”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We went on the 2 PM tour to see dolphins. For some reason I thought we'd be out in the ocean but all of our time is spent in the river. We did see dolphins and for a short run a few jumped in our wake. The tour is only $15 so it's reasonable. Not a bad way to spend an hour.

“Good Time!”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

We took an afternoon dolphin tour. We used a coupon and it cost about $15 each. It was well worth the money! I've never seen so many dolphins, and loved listening to the captain's stories. We were on the water for almost an hour and a half. It was very hot, but once we were on the water, it was enjoyable. The only thing I would recommend would be the addition of a canopy or something to use as shade while waiting to board. We had a baby and there was nowhere to escape the sun. I highly recommend Capt. Derek's.
