“A visit to Tybee Island”

We had some time so we went out to Tybee Island to the Lighthouse. It was a little rainy the day we went but the grounds were very interesting. The light keepers houses were fun to see. Climbing the stairs to the top of the lighthouse was a bit of a challenge, not as young as I used to be, but well worth it. The fee also got you in the fort by the sea so its well worth the price.

“Wow!”

Tybee Island is fun all on its own. The lighthouse, though is really a thing of beauty. There is a historic park next to it, but a story to be lived at the lighthouse. Well worth the trip.

“Lovely view”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

This is a lovely lighthouse, and the view from the lighthouse is great. Our kids, aged 3 and 5 were actually able to climb all 170 stairs up and down. Afterwards our 3 year old took a nice nap (very rare for him). I would totally recommend it to anyone who likes to visit lighthouses!

“$9 Stairmaster, 178 steps to the top!”

They have a place to park next to the lighthouse DO NOT PAY TO PARK! You pay at the booth, and travel through the gift shop to get outside. While they have quite a few buildings open for examples of a lighthouse keeper, the majority of people climb the lighthouse, I would recommend doing this before you go home, if you get leg cramps easily, or maybe do some stretches... they have 5 landings for the lighthouse (sadly no place to sit.)

“A must see on Tybee”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

When we got to the lighthouse, there was construction going on, so it was very confusing and frustrating parking, and even more frustrating walking in. There weren't any signs telling us which way to go in, so we did a lot of unnecessary walking. The lighthouse itself was amazing. We got some really great pictures on the grounds. My three year old loved it! The gift shop was also really great. I'm not sure how often we will go back when we visit Tybee, but definitely a must see if you ever go!
