Great little place for lunch while in the Tate-Jasper, GA area. And by little, I do mean small. It got full quickly at lunch time. But for a good reason; the food was delicious and service was great. Has a retro 50/60’s theme even down to the waitress’ uniforms and music they play. Need to make sure you are hungry when you visit because the portions are large.
It is a short drive off the main tourist drag (Hwy 515) but well worth the detour. Located at the intersection of Hwy 5 and Hwy 53. Absolutely someplace I would recommend.

Nice little place in rural Georgia. 50/60s style California decor with waitresses in retro outfits. We shared a huge 3 egg omelette which gave us a side choice of grits, potatoes or tomatoes. Food was hot, fresh and well seasoned. Coffee was hot and plentiful. A nice place while your in town while shopping at Jasper Jeep.

We have used Trip Advisor for many cities we've recently visited, when it dawned on us... "Why not use it for local recommendations?" Although Tate is not exactly 'local' to where we live, it's close to my parents in Jasper. Wanting to try something new, we noted Madeline's and found it high in the ratings. When we called, they said they weren't opened for dinner, but that we should try their sister locale, Millie's in Tate.

When we arrived shortly after 7pm, we noticed a 'Closed' sign on the door. I found it unlocked and when entering saw that they were cleaning up for the day. I was told, sorry, that they had closed at 7pm, but to come on in, for the grill was still manned. The four of us were seated and promptly ordered both of the specials for the night. Three ordered salmon and I had the fried catfish. Sides of grilled zucchini and cole slaw were added along with a wild rice medley. Our waitress was gracious and attentive and never made us feel like we needed to rush.

I can tell you that all of us were immensely impressed, our somewhat muted expectations (because the grill was closing and they probably wanted to leave) were surpassed. Huge filet of dill sprinkled grilled salmon.... My father said it was the best he'd ever eaten! Zucchini was well seasoned and grill just right. My catfish, large, yet not the muddy, 'channel' catfish taste, was rolled in cornmeal and flaky. My wife, not normally a cole slaw eater, quit eating mine and ordered her own saying "This is nicely 'different' somehow."

Being 'Food Channel' groupies, we tend to notice cleanliness, attentiveness of the staff and food quality and taste. This was not your normal, 'throw food at ya' environment. You'll notice comments about poor service from this Spring. One of the owners, Gerald, who greeted us as we left, mentioned that personnel changes had been made and new folks were in charge. That was noticeable.

All in all, appreciating their excellent service, we will be back, as this is a quaint, well run new favorite locale. Thanks Gerald and Hector for a great meal!

As another reviewer pointed out, this is not special evening out place. It is good homestyle cooking food. That is how it is advertised and what should be expected. In a county with painfully few restsurants we are thrilled to have another place for lunch. Have not tried it for dinner yet, but will soon.
The owner's also own Madeline's in Jasper. It is another great lunch choice (only open for lunch).
