“Terrible”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

I'll start with the good: If you need to feed a lot of people then call in and order some BBQ pork by the pound. You won't impress anyone but it's edible and convenient.
The bad is numerous. Years ago the original owner had a great place and developed a great reputation for the best BBQ anywhere in the area. He served only the best homemade foods and the service was great.
Nowdays it's a different story. His son has switched from fresh food to generic stuff out of plastic containers. Nothing is homemade except the BBQ sauce which is utterly terrible in my opinion. It's thin and packed with pepper, not what I call a BBQ sauce. The meat doesn't have very much flavor. It's all a bit bland and there isn't anything but generic cole slaw or potato salad to accompany it.
I have been treated rudely on 2 different occasions by an elderly lady at their window and coupled with the 3rd class food there is no reason to go here at all. There are many other great places nearby so don't waste your money here if you have a better option.

“Advertises most delicious bbq in the world.”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

I don't think so. bbq sauce is bland, but they sell it by the gallon. Waitress seems to own the place or they act as they do. When I ask one of them if they had a local newspaper she said yes and I was charged for the paper. I told the lady at the check out and she said they had magazines you could read while waiting for your food, but you had to buy the newspaper. Food served in very small servings a;nd you have to beg the waitress to bring more to drink.

“World Famous BBQ”
Reviewed June 4, 2012 via mobile

The top choice for bbq in Northwest Georgia. The food hasn't changed in over 30 years which is a good thing. The sauce is something special. It's a vinager base, but has that little something extra that makes it all it's own. To get the authentic experience make sure to sit in Debbie's section. The kitchen has been hit or miss over the last couple of years in that it may take more time than you are expecting, so make sure to allow yourself plenty of time.

“A Summerville Tradition - Fantastic BBQ”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

I have to admit upfront that this is my hometown BBQ joint an I grew up on Armstrong's food. But, with that said, I have had a lot of BBQ over the years and this place is clearly at the top. It's always cooked just right with a crusty outside and juicy center. The vinegar based sauce has been made the same way as long as I can remember. It's tangy and spicy at the same time and it does not mask the BBQ meat's flavor.

The entire menu is good and affordable. I have never had a bad meal there. The staff is always friendly and eager to please. The atmosphere is plain. Tables in a dining room that looks like something from the fifties. But, I like it. I hope it stays the same.

Last but not the least important, don't fill up on the main course. Their pie is to die for. They usually have two kinds if it's not sold out. You have to have the pie. My favorite is chocolate but many rave about the coconut.
