We stayed in a popup on site 21 for 4 days. It was absolutey perfect. I dont think we could have found a better spot for a popup. Site 22 was also a good site. The campgound had alot of activities for the kids. The employees were very friendly and made you feel welcomed. We have already made reservations to go back this summer.

We stayed at the campground 3 days with our 2 grandchildren and had a wonderful time! We had a 2 day pass to Stone Mountain Park, but bike riding, the playground, fishing, pool time, and the children's arts and craft day camp also kept us busy at the CG. We stayed at site #93 and it was a PRIME location -- "level, lake front", a close walk/bike ride to activities for the children -- well worth the premium price. The staff was helpful and friendly, especially the volunteers who entertained/worked with the children at the CG day camp.

We are pretty new to camping, as we just purchased a 29ft TT in October, so I was pleasantly surprised at all of the amenities offered at the Stone Mountain Family Campgroud. We chose 163A as our campsite & I couldn't have been happier with our choice! We were in a large corner, with nice shade, adjacent to the recreation area. This area included a playground, volleyball court, horseshoes & a pool, all within eyeshot of our front door! I felt perfectly safe with our girls playing at the park area or doing horseshoes while I was cooking or tidying up. On this loop you get a deck area with a gas grill & picnic table along with a fire pit. They pickup trash continuously & security also patrols regularly. We had water, sewer, & cable at our site, so this is certainly not primitive. The pool area was clean & well maintained. I was initially concerned about the noise level but this was never a problem even with several boy scout troops camping there the same weekend we arrived!
The shuttle service over to Stone Mountain park was clean & efficient with very friendly drivers. The campground staff at the store was also very helpful. I am told the bath house was quite clean & well maintained by some friends who camped with us but were having trouble with their camper shower. We are very excited about returning here to camp! Maybe next time we'll do one of the more primitive sites ;)

We stayed for week during Spring break and basically every spot was full but did not seem crowded as everyone was out and about. The CG was very nice, they picked up trash all day long. We have great site right in front of lake, view was amazing every day. The showers were clean and plenty of them. The pool was even open but cold since April. Stone Mountain was amazing but get there before it opens for the zipline rides. The laser show was great and kids loved all the SMP activities. Location was perfect as everything was less than 30 minutes away like Aquarium, Zoo, Six Flags and Coke World. Tons of places to eat just past Stone Mountain. The only negative was WIFI service was terrible at our site and even up front.

We live locally and stayed during Easter weekend (Fri-Sat). We pitched a tent for my husband and 6 yr old boy (me and the 4 yr old went back home to sleep) w/some friends. We were on a "primative" site (no running water or electricity) and "water front" location--had 1 leveled off area/platform for the tent, 1 wooden picnic table, 1 bbq grill (which we didn't use), and 1 fire pit w/stones around it. It was a perfect location since the boys could play in the lake water and make sand castles (really mud castles) while we cooked/got the campsite ready. The restrooms were very close (short 2 min walk) and extremely CLEAN, which is saying alot because the campground look full. The employee cleaning the bathroom in the morning said they sometimes clean them every 2 hours. Our friend took a quick shower in the morning and said the water was hot. We almost ran out of firewood (burned thru 2 bundles quickly at night) and bought more at the camp store for $5/bundle. I did see poison ivy in the green areas so beware. No mosquitos on this trip, but it's still early. We packed up on Sat morning and spent the whole day at Stone Mountain Park. Everyone had fun and we plan to do it again. We'll bring bikes/razors next time...lots of kids/folks riding around the campground on them.

Room Tip: Get a lake front property--easy entertainment for the kids

We have camped at Stone Mountain with our retro 70's camper three times in the past three years. It's always very nice, the parks are well run; the check in process very nice although all three times we have been there we waited on line for a bit. The facilities are clean but quite a long walk from most campsites, it's nice to have your own. The garbage is picked up regularly throughout the day. The common areas are great for kids and adults, too. We have never been to the pool but it looks nice. The party room (I am sure it has a great name but I can't remember it). We have been here twice during their Fall Festival (that's not what it's called either, I bet) and they had hot cider, chocolate and coffee, popcorn and other snacks. Children were painting pumpkins and there is large screen television in the corner with rocking chairs around it; very nice for watching UGA Football!

The sites are expensive and packed tightly together and there is little privacy. Some sites are configured like a parking space with a concrete patio thing with a table on it. The WiFi doesn't work all that well (maybe we were too far away, but still....) Our site had the door of our camper about five feet from a rather busy road.

So, it's great for when you want to visit the park and do the other cool things there are to do in Atlanta. The shuttle service is very convenient, the drivers very courteous and careful. I would go there again in a few years so we can see the latest laser show but not because it's such a great place to camp.

Room Tip: The lakeside sites are very nice. Row M seemed very nice. We have been in Row O three times, it...
