This attraction is an insult to all who served in the Civil War; both North & South. It glorifies the atrocious views of slavery, has antiquated relief maps with sardonic narrations. One comment in the narration of Sherman's march to the sea was "Sherman raped & pillaged his way through the South". Are you kidding me? Was Sherman the only officer in this war? The Southern officer's had no culpablity in their actions? I just found this to be a sad way to 'honor' any soldier or civilian who was affected by this war. AND, I discovered that Stone Mountain, GA is the birthplace of the KKK. Not worth the price of gas or admission.

We flew in from Florida and spent 2 days at the park. We walked some of the trails with the kids on the first day and spent the second day playing in the snow in the park. The kids had a great time riding the snow rides and building snowmen. We made smores and rode the lift to the top of the mountain. It was a great trip for the family. I recommend packing a bag and locking it up in the rental lockers. Dry clothes are great after a long day. We scheduled our snow time at the end of the day so that we didn't have to rush to get to the park in the morning. When we got there we had time to explore the park, eat lunch and then play in the snow. We left shortly after our snow rides and went to eat dinner at the hotel. It worked out great for the kids.

I have been here to fish, BBQ at the park and took the skyline to the top of the mountain. Other than having to pay 10$ to park it was an OK visit.

They also have a laser light show shining off the side of the stone faced mountain at night in the summer.

Well worth a visit, the day we went it was very windy at the top but the views are incredible, there were only a couple of attractions open.
But just to see the carvings on the cliff face is worth the entrance fee and then look in the museum to see a full size replica of part of the carvings. Makes you wonder how on earth it was accomplished

The serenity and the scenery keep the five mile loop around the mountain as my favorite place to run. The trails close-in to the mountain are great as well, but be cautious during and after wet weather -- the granite gets very slick.

The tourists seem to like the other park amenities ;-)
