Definitely will return here. This park gets mixed reviews but for our family it was very nice. The only complaint is lack of cheap and easy dining options, but there are close places to eat that make up for that. The view from the top of spectacular, and the village had plenty of stuff to keep us and the kids entertained for a couple of days.

This is a great place to visit to celebrate Christmas. Almost every square inch of the buildings in the main section are covered in Christmas lights. They have many Christmas shows to entertain you (see the schedule). The night-time train ride around the mountain is a not-to-be-missed experience. You will want to get on the 6:00 train if possible. If you miss that one, take the earliest one possible. The lines for this will be very long. Take your time and don't get in a rush and you will be fine. Don't forget the skylift, museum, covered bridge, quarry exhibit, and the other attractions outside of the core area. You can also walk up the side of the mountain. It's not a bad walk and you will be rewarded with many great views along the way.

For many years our family went through/past Atlanta and Stone mountain on our way to middle Florida where the 3 kids enjoyed the theme parks. Because of medical issues I couldn't do those rides, but my desire to view Stone mountain went unheeded . I visited my youngest daughter in Atlanta in late November and she asked what I wanted to see while there. A trip to Stone mountain was at the top of the list. It was well worth the wait. The view from atop the granite mountaintop was unbelievably breath-taking! The ride up in the cable car was invigorating. Getting to see the relief carvings was fascinating. I can cross this off my bucket list. My daughter had never ridden a train previously,so we took the train around the base of the mountain.

Since Stone Mountain went private it has been a money pit for tourist. We took 2 of our grand kids to the mountain last evening and expected it to be everything that it wasn't, the Christmas parade was only a few motor floats with little thought put into them. The train ride was billed as the Polar Express but there where very few lights shown as we went around the mountain, they did put on one skit that was good while we stopped about 3/4 of the way around. The 4 D Movie was part of the Polar Express movie and was good but only 20 minutes long, way to short when you consider the waiting line was 30 minutes long. Snow mountain is a joke, should be barely ice mountain, the weather is to warn to control the ice machines. We could have eaten at some of the better restaurants in Atlanta cheaper than we paid for a snack at the mountain. The hot chocolate taste like water. The cable car is a good ride but you might choose to walk up the mountain, 1-1/8 miles one way. There is a sidewalk around the mountain that is approximately 5 miles, nice run or walk. Cost to get in the mountain is $10 per car or $35 for annual pass.
