The atmosphere is subpar but the food is great. I highly recomend the Steak Chimchanga Parmesana. I have ate there several times now and enjoy the food way more than El Sombrero. I love the fact they serve coke in the old style glass bottles!

We set our GPS to the address of this restaurant because we had seen the positive reviews on multiple sites. When our GPS told us we had reached our destination, we still could not see the place. We finally drove around the u-shaped line of stores and finally saw a sign in the window. The letters on their main sign had completely pulled off.
The service was exceptional and the waitress told us to help ourselves to the chips and salsa, The tortilla chips were very fresh and flavorful. Our food arrived after only a short wait and looked delicious. I had a chimmichanga and my wife had chicken fajitas. Both were large helpings and delicious. I certainly recommend this place to others. It was nothing fancy but was clean and the food was great.

Unassuming family places can be the source of some of the best Mexican food. This one is just average but the staff really seems to be trying. The self serve chip, salsa, guac and condiments bar was a really nice touch. Beware of liquified pure hot red peppers though! Carne asada at our table was a nice dish, but tamales, echilladas and relleno were just average

Absolutely best Mexican food in the Boro. This little hole in the wall brings back memories of a trip to Tijuana. El Sombrero finally has some competition. You will love this place!!!

Don;t be afraid. We have eaten here on multiple occasions, and no, the atmosphere is not great, but the food is. Much more authentic Mexican dishes, and a great nacho bar which is free. The soups are very good and hearty. Everything we have tried here has been tasty, including soups, tacos, quesadillas, and several of the specialty dishes like bistecca and pork adobado.
