A few kilometres from Kitale town, we spent an afternoon at the park. Probably not enough to see all that it has to offer, but in the snapshot, the most impressive feature was the caves where elephants come. We did not get to see any elephants though.
The walk to the cave is very nice and full of interesting vegetation. We did not get to see many animals in our short time there - mainly baboons, a gazelle or two and water-bucks. There were some birds...though personally I couldn't spot them. The park has some bandas for those interested in overnight stays...set in a very quiet atmosphere. It is fairly cold up there though.
The lodge is not far from the park, an old not so well maintained establishment, average food, but very fresh and after an afternoon walk, fairly enjoyable. The chapatis are always nice.
Entry fee to the park: 25USD for non residents, 300KES for residents.
You need your own vehicle to drive into the park, preferably a 4WD though in dry season a non 4WD can probably make it. You get a guide at the entrance, at a fee, who rides with you in your vehicle.
