We visited here on Monday 23rd September as a prelude to having a cruise on Lake Windermere. It is a very crowded but fascinating series of snapshots of times gone by. The range of exhibits is mind blowing and does take you back in time to the era of petrol @ 1/11d per gallon (or at least it did me!!!) Some of the cars on display are really interesting to see them again, and they do take you back to a time of less crowded roads when driving was more of an adventure.
There is a large cafe attached and they offer a good selection of food.

Thank you for your kind review.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the visitor experience we provide.
Our close proximity to Lakeside at the southern tip of Lake Windermere provides opportunity for our visitors to combine a museum visit with a scenic cruise and / or a ride on the Haverthwaite Steam Railway.
Those staying in Central Lakes can buy combined tickets at the Windermere Lake Cruises piers at Ambleside and Bowness.
Cafe Ambio with its spectacular riverside setting is a great place to enjoy a snack or meal.
The museum collection offers something for everyone and has great appeal to all ages, generating many motoring memories and serving as a reminder as to how things used to be.

Thank you for visiting and taking time to post your review.
We are delighted that you consider the Lakeland Motor Museum to be well worth a visit.
We have a huge collection of historical motoring related artefacts and it is difficult to see everything in just one visit.
We operate a policy of continuous exhibit rotation to ensure that that the visitor experience is constantly refreshed, and to ensure that repeat visitors are always presented with something new.

This place is a tardis. When we arrived, we thought the place was quite small but how wrong could we be! There is so much variety of memorabilia here you can't fail to find at least one thing to capture your interest! There is plenty of information to read but without there being an overload. The café was lovely too with a smart inside and outdoor seating next to the river. We didn't eat there but the menu looked nice. Would definitely recommend if you are interested in motor memorabilia and even if your not it's a lovely way to spend a rainy day!

Many of our visitors are surprised at the eclectic content of the museum.
We have over 30,000 exhibits which have been collected over almost 50 years and serve as a reminder as to how things have changed over time.
It's almost imposssible to view the collection and not to be moved by some distant memory.
The atmosphere within the museum is one of pure nostalgia providing a thoroughly enjoyable experience whatever the weather.

What a great place to visit. So many old cars, motor bikes and cycles to look at. It brought back memories of my childhood. Would definitely go again. The café serves excellent food. Well worth the 166 mile round trip.

Thank you for your kind review.
We are delighted that despite the long journey you enjoyed the Lakeland Motor Museum experience.
This is a museum which oozes nostalgia and it is almost impossible to view the extensive collection and not to recall some childhood memory
