“Close to Helen and Major Wineries”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

So like many of the reviewers, we found out about this resort thru LivingSocial. We upgraded to a cabin. The cabin is away from the primary lodge and it's in a quiet, secluded area of the property. The room was sizable and cozy. Some furniture upgrades are needed. We did have some issues with the water on both nights. The owners tried to repair but were unable. So we were given a premium room. In addition they removed our upgrade charge and gave us a voucher for a future visit. they really did try to make the situation right which was very much appreciated. On a side note, We actually preferred the premium room over the cabin. It was more updated with the furnishings and decor. The breakfast was very good. Although the hours are limited. So if you like early breakfasts like us, I recommend that you have snacks to hold you over in the room. the wine tasting was a lot of fun. It was an opportunity to sample local wines as well as a wine that Sylvan Valley is making. I was pleasantly surprised because I didn't realize that we actually got to take a bottle of our choice with us. We, along w/most of the other guests, decided to take the Sylvan Valley wine. It is actually quite good. Overall it was a good get away.

We also purchased a Living Social deal with 2 other couples. We upgraded to a cabin. The cabin was well constructed but in desperate need of upgrading. It was a great location. The wine tasting was nice. The breakfasts were awesome!! Wineries to hit: Serenity Cellars, Yonah Mountain. Best dinner in the area: Bernies. The sandwich shop in downtown Sautree is great, pick up sandwiches, bottle of wine and head to the Stovall covered bridge.

Room Tip: Definitely upgrade to a cabin, great outdoor space to grill, picnic table..

My husband and I had a lovely weekend despite the accomidations. The inn keepers were very nice and the room was clean. I was turned off by the disrepair of the room. Infact, when we had just walked into the room I suggested to my husband that we drive back home for the night. The room needs a complete overhaul. Everything is dated and/or damaged. From the old and filthy carpets, to the unrepaired holes in the walls, flimsy drapes, plates in the ceiling instead of replacing the light fixture and at least 30 yr old hot tub and bathroom. Certinatly not what I had expected after paying the upgrade for the "premium"room. The room was what you would expect at a motel 6 not a B and B for $200/night. I wish I had read this review before we booked. Based on what I have read in others reviews, the rooms are recently renovated. Perhaps the owners have simply not gotten to the premium king room yet. I hope that they renovate it soon because it is a lovely location for the inn.

We had never been to the Blue Ridge Mountains and saw this on a Living Social deal it was the best deal we have ever purchased .the owners made it a very special occasion for it as we celebrated our 40th anniversary. The rooms were beautiful ,warm and inviting with a beautiful view from our deck Breakfast was fresh everything and was served with soft music, elegant table setting. We loved the Sylvan Valley Brand wine " Frolicking Fairy " and brought some home. we will definitely go back again.!

Found this place thru Living Social offer. Quiet and close to Helen Georga. Clean, helpful owners and a good breakfast. Local winerys are close and georgia wines were very good A suprise. Room was well kept and bed comfortable. Had a problem with the small refridgerator it didn't get a cold as it maybe should have but ok.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and discovered our little secret—Georgia wines are really good. Thanks for letting us know about the issue with the refrigerator. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

My husband and I have stayed at Sylvan Valley Lodge on several occasions over the past several years. The Lodge is warm, clean, beautifully furnished, and our experience has always been delightful. We have been there on 3 separate occasions for their Wine Tasting Dinners and they are terrific fun and very educational if you like good food and good wine. Sylvan Valley Lodge is only a short drive from Helen and Dahlonega, and is in the heart of the Georgia wine country. It is a must-do to visit the local wineries and see what they are offering in the way of the great Georgia wines now available. The owners of the Lodge, John and Ginevra, treat us like family and we feel welcomed and pampered.

Room Tip: We have stayed in several of the rooms, but our favorite is the deluxe King with the Jacuzzi tub .

We had a very nice stay at the Lodge. The owners could not have been more accommodating. Our room was the King room (the 4 poster) the one that an earlier reviewer had mentioned. We really found it super comfortable and the wife loved the new wainscoting that had been installed just days prior to our visit.

Breakfast was excellent with fresh eggs, sourdough toast and nitrate free bacon (all local). We really enjoyed the Wine tasting where we got to sample 2 reds and 2 whites that were from local wineries along with an assortment of cheeses to try.

We love the North Georgia mountain area and are always drawn back for long weekend getaways. Now with all the wineries springing up, it just makes it more fun.

The Sylvan Valley Lodge is a great place to get-away to and we highly recommend it.
