“Nice place”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

Found this place thru Living Social offer. Quiet and close to Helen Georga. Clean, helpful owners and a good breakfast. Local winerys are close and georgia wines were very good A suprise. Room was well kept and bed comfortable. Had a problem with the small refridgerator it didn't get a cold as it maybe should have but ok.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and discovered our little secret—Georgia wines are really good. Thanks for letting us know about the issue with the refrigerator. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

My husband and I have stayed at Sylvan Valley Lodge on several occasions over the past several years. The Lodge is warm, clean, beautifully furnished, and our experience has always been delightful. We have been there on 3 separate occasions for their Wine Tasting Dinners and they are terrific fun and very educational if you like good food and good wine. Sylvan Valley Lodge is only a short drive from Helen and Dahlonega, and is in the heart of the Georgia wine country. It is a must-do to visit the local wineries and see what they are offering in the way of the great Georgia wines now available. The owners of the Lodge, John and Ginevra, treat us like family and we feel welcomed and pampered.

Room Tip: We have stayed in several of the rooms, but our favorite is the deluxe King with the Jacuzzi tub .

We had a very nice stay at the Lodge. The owners could not have been more accommodating. Our room was the King room (the 4 poster) the one that an earlier reviewer had mentioned. We really found it super comfortable and the wife loved the new wainscoting that had been installed just days prior to our visit.

Breakfast was excellent with fresh eggs, sourdough toast and nitrate free bacon (all local). We really enjoyed the Wine tasting where we got to sample 2 reds and 2 whites that were from local wineries along with an assortment of cheeses to try.

We love the North Georgia mountain area and are always drawn back for long weekend getaways. Now with all the wineries springing up, it just makes it more fun.

The Sylvan Valley Lodge is a great place to get-away to and we highly recommend it.

First, I'm not a mountain person -- but I thoroughly enjoyed our two-day retreat at Sylvan Valley Lodge. The mountain drive was pleasant -- not the corkscrew type. The hosts were gracious and helpful. The wine tasting was fun and much better than we expected.

The wine/restaurant/inn managers here have joined forces to create an upcoming winner to rival much better-known wine venues.

The Lodge is very comfortable -- outdoor areas well done. Inside, it is a bit dated, but beds are comfy, shower works well, and the big lounge with the fireplace is great. Breakfast is fabulous and the little wine tasting there was fun too. We would definitely go back. Take a book light if you have a rainy day -- lighting is dim.

For our seventh wedding anniversary, my husband and I spent the weekend at the Sylvan Valley Lodge and were overwhelmed with the experience! The hospitality of the owners, as well as the wine tasting, breakfast, and the wine and dinner pairing event were all exceptional. My husband and I certainly enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace, as well as reading our books in front of the mountain view. We will definitely be back! Excellent weekend get-a-way!

Room Tip: We stayed in the actual lodge instead of a cabin and upgraded to a deluxe room with a king bed and w...

This Lodge is in a great location between rolling hills, picturesque valleys, Georgia's highest peak, waterfalls, and quaint towns. We shared an upgraded guest room in the front of the lodge overlooking an outdoor community seating area. There was nice Fall color on mountain across the way. A soak in heart-shaped jetted bathtub was fun and relaxing though hot water was hard to come by to fill it up. Our room had mini-frig and wine glasses. We could not get the TV to work but did not ask or complain about it since not big watchers. Decor was nice, bed comfy, owners might consider shaded drape over the door to keep light out. Wine tasting was interesting, good opportunity to meet other guests, and seems upper GA forthcoming with production. Breakfast is ample and good with same 3 choices daily. We did not take the time to check out the available cabins on the property. Good restaurant nearby for dinner.

We also stayed at the Sylvan Valley Lodge on a two day Living Social offer and agree with the other posted remarks. I'd like to add a few comments of my own. The bed was very comfortable and the folks that ran the place were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and it is nice to be served rather than to be helping yourself from a buffet. The rooms are up a flight of stairs with no elevator. The weather had turned cold so we couldn't appreciate the outdoors so much. The room's curtains are thin and completely block the heating unit when they are closed. The TV was an old tube set that had seen better days. We would have liked to have had a desk in the room for our laptop. Overall it was a mixed experience for us.
