My family and I have visited many times and have found something new and interesting on each visit. We happened upon the museum just after it opened, and we have been sending friends -- and anyone else who will listen -- ever since!

Not only is the pottery housed in a beautiful gallery, the short film about The Meaders family is wonderful! The pottery examples are excellent and folk pottery collectors will be besides themselves. We were. Good selection of churns, face jugs, roosters by Arie Meaders, decorative pots. Just a treat to see the actual pottery wheel Lanier Meaders used.

This is a beautiful folk pottery museum that allows the visitor to learn about the development of a particular pottery in this part of Appalachia. The museum is an easy walk through, well marked. The docent was most pleasant and knowledgeable. Nothing to dislike!

We both love history and art, so this was a real treat for us...we left enlightened and inspired. The building's architecture is beautiful in and of itself, making it worth the trip just to see that. I would say that this museum will be appreciated most by adults and older children who have a love and appreciation of history or the arts or both. Young children will probably not fare well at this venue, however there are other activities in the vicinity of the museum for young children...visit the Sautee Nacoochie Community Association website (SNCA.org) for those. One important note: It's really important to take your time with the first four or five stations of the exhibit (absorb as much background info as possible), because it will really enhance your understanding and appreciation of the pottery exhibited throughout the museum. We are soooo glad we took the time to visit the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia...it was one of the highlights of our two week stay in Helen.

Wonderful museum. The building itself is worth the visit. Lots of information about the history of North Ga Folk Potters. There are two galleries and exhibits in the hallway featuring the works of local artists.
