The Lodge at Sea Island
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed November 11, 2011

I just hosted a corporate event at The Lodge at Sea Island. The service was fantastic at all areas of the resort. The rooms and bathrooms were large with great amenities. We were fortunate to have one of the presidential suites and it was a very impressive room. Overall, the highlight of the event was the dinner in the private Wine Cellar room, which is literally in the hotel's wine cellar. If you have a group large enough, I would highly recommend it, as it is a very unique experience. Beyond the hotel, the golf facilities are top notch. I was able to play the Plantation Course and it was an extremely enjoyable course to play. My only complaint would be that the bar within the Lodge closes rather early, leaving you with little to no options for entertainment after 11. Beyond that, the resort truly is 5-star and would highly recommend it for an intimate event.

Guys golf trip staying at the Lodge. Very good accommodations for this type of deal. Nice rooms, great showers, nice friendly staff and check in.
Golf amenities (courses, practice facilities, pro shop) are 5 star.
Food was good although not great..wait staff friendly and competent.
My only complaint is the outside golf staff was not up to par. No marshaling at all so pace of play suffers. Tee times screwed up continually. Was promised for caddies every round and on showed 2 out of 6.
I will probably go back at some time.

We have been coming here annually for the past few years at the end of October. The facility and food and golf are all superb, as is the service. The property changed hands in the last year but to our eyes, a seamless transition. Most of the same staff on hand, which was nice to see. If you are a golfer, this is the place to stay. Three excellent resort courses, tow of which are literally out the back door of The Lodge, the other is a short shuttle away. If you are not a golfer, I would suggest staying at The Cloister (sister property) instead. Dinner at Colt and Alison is consistently wonderful, they make Caesar salad from scratch at your table (kind of retro but a nice touch), outstanding steaks. We constantly meet and chat with lovely people at the bar, this place attracts a friendly group. I would not recommend The Lodge for people traveling with children, again, you would be better off down the road at The Cloister.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms in The Lodge.

This is one of the most pleasant and comfortable places I have ever been to. It may be good for children, but for us the pool reserved for the over 18's was an even more welcome feature. Also the room - or suite, or apartment - had a very nice view over the ocean and the pool, with a generous corner terrace. It does not come cheap, which is to be expected. However, the need to constantly carry wads of dollar bills to be able to tip absolutely every person from the resort you came in contact with was a bit tiresome, even if the amount is negligible related to the total price of the stay. That said, the service is without flaw and the staff extremely attentive - to the extent of ending telephone coversations with a "call you back" when you approach them.

Room Tip: An ocean view room is well worth the rather small extra price

This resort is one of the East coast's best kept secret. Sandy beaches, and some of the best landscapes north of Floidal Sea Island is the place to escape with your family and reconnect. With gobs of activities for the kids, (horseback riding, skeet shooting, deep sea fishing, cruising, kayaking, etc.) Sea Island blends quality, relaxation, value and tradition in a way that no other resort can deliver.

If you want a luxury hotel with 5 Diamond award dining, The Cloister delivers. If you want relaxation in a casual oceanfront atmosphere, the Beach Club delivers. The Lodge delivers a completely different feel, with old Georgia charm and one of the best Steakhouses in Georgia. It also offers 2 magnificent golf courses (one of which offers Ocean vistas and provides the best PGA golfers with a challenge).

All in all, the blend of diverse luxury offerings make it our family's destination at least twice a year. Sea Island is the place to be.

Room Tip: In the Cloister, the marsh front rooms are fabulous. Breakfast on the balcony is just amazing. Best...

This is one of my favorite places to visit. It is Southern Hospitality and luxury at its best. From the minute you are greeted by your butler (yes, every room has a butler!), you know that you are in a special place! The atmosphere is so peaceful and relaxed, especially in the winter, when the huge lobby fireplace is ablaze. The rocking chairs along the back veranda are a perfect place to sit and listen to the evening bagpiper, as he plays to the setting sun. The rooms are beautifully appointed, yet feel very homey and comfortable. The Oak Room restaurant is a wonderful place to eat, and offers great breakfasts (which can be served outdoors) and delicious dinners. Another unmatched benefit of staying at a Sea Island property is that you have access to the world reknown Sea Island Spa. Don't miss this, as it is one of the best in the world. We schedule our treatments for early in the day, and spend the rest of the day lazing around the spa. They offer an indoor pool, a two story jacuzzi/waterfall spa, an indoor hot tub, an outdoor hot tub, a babbling brook in a three-story atrium with lounge chairs in which to read (or nap!), just to mention a few of their ammenities. It is sumptuous! While Sea Island is a great couple's getaway, we have made many wonderful memories with girl's weekends at this incredible place. Don't miss this one!.

I have stayed at Sea Island. It is a place to take the family, a beautiful place to get engaged or have a wedding, an anniversary, birthday or just a beautiful place to just relax.
The customer service is the best in the business! You get genuine hospitality.. something you can not learn, it is instilled in you.. they have it!!!
The place is beautiful and roomy. There are numerous things to see and do.
It is a mobil 5 star 5 diamond resort.
You cannot get any better than this.
