“Charming Place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2014

Easy walking distance to everything, and from what we could tell, the best place to be!....We had a 2nd floor room on Mallory st but didn't experience any trouble w/noise whatsoever (Saturday night stay).....our balcony was small but we enjoyed people watching from up there! Staff was pleasant, grounds were clean! We actually parked our car and inadvertently left the driver side door OPEN while we walked to the pier......nothing was taken or disturbed from the car at all! we found it to be a very safe and friendly area! Breakfast was OK...nothing really special....fruit/waffles/bagel.....no elevator, so be prepared to carry your stuff up the outside stairs. Nice place, we'd go back!

Our stay here was the best! The Village Inn, as the name implies, is in the original village area of shops and restaurants. Easy walking distance to these and the pier near the park and lighthouse. On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown around the property regarding parking, the breakfast area, pub and other amenities. The Inn is tucked back in the trees which makes it seem to be out of the mainstream of the village. We did learn that they went to great lengths to design and build the Inn without cutting down the trees on the property. It was very quiet in our room on the second floor. The bed was very comfortable with great linens. The room, grounds, office and pub/breakfast area were immaculately clean. The pub is a very nice feature for a drink without driving to another location and socializing. The breakfast was not a bed and breakfast meal but everything was very fresh and tasty! So calming to look out the windows and see the trees. Our room also had french doors that opened onto a small balcony with table and chairs. A great spot to greet or end your day. Be sure to give the Inn and Pub a try when visiting Saint Simons Island. It is not a super luxury hotel but it is a huge leap above chain hotels while still being a great value.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Mallory Street, which is the front of the Inn, if you want/need the quietes...

It was an anniversary weekend away and the Village Inn was perfect. The room (a suite) was lovely, the trees wrapped the property, the staff were friendly, the pub had a neighborhood feel and it was walking distance to shops and restaurants. For the price, I can't imagine a better value.

Spent four nights here in March 2014. All in all it was a pleasant stay in this small inn, located near the "old town" area. Our room was not large but very comfortable. The two overstuffed chairs with ottoman were nice after a long day. A glass door opened onto a small patio. We left it open while in the room during the day although the street noise was a bit distracting.

The lobby area offered an inviting fire during the breakfast hour. The breakfast itself was pretty standard "light" fare with fruits, pastries, cereal, etc. You could cook your own waffle. The pleasant lobby/breakfast area was used by guests for card games and other socializing during the day. A bar is in the lobby and attracted some guests; music was available some nights. Good coffee was available all the time for free. The pool is pretty small.

Two negatives were experienced. (1,) The front desk is not staffed after 11 PM so there was no one to quiet a rowdy crowd at 2 AM one morning. (2.) Internet service was very disappointing. I was trying to do some work and finally gave up on two of the days while I was there. To be fair, friends staying at other hotels had similar experiences. Must be a problem with internet providers on the island. I measured 0.4 Mbps typical speed but it was not consistent.

My husband and I recently spent a long weekend at the Village Inn and Pub. We loved how close the Inn is to shops, restaurants and the pier. We had an excellent dinner at the Georgia Sea Grill and an awesome lunch at Southern Soul Barbecue. We also liked Mullet Bay for their clam chowder and shrimp po'boy. The continental breakfast at the inn is good, but if you would like to have a heartier breakfast, the 4 th of May and Mallery Street Cafe are good. There is a cute store for pet supplies next to the cafe and there is a Dairy Queen across from the Inn. Something for everyone! We did not get to enjoy the pub at the Inn, but it sounded like they had good entertainment. Our room was close to the pub, but it was not noisy. We enjoyed our stay on St. Simeon's Island and recommend this Inn.

We stayed here this past weekend and had a great time. The room was very accommodating, the staff was very helpful, and the bartender, RB, made great recommendations for dinner (he also makes a good drink). I'll definitely stay again.
