Relax with a drink and get a partner to dance the night away. Dancing Dan is in the Groove.. As others do join in for a fun night.

Listening to a pleasant guy with great voice and a set of lungs to blow out tunes on his saxaphone.
We where able to see him preform 2X in January 2013 and brought friends who Loved it.

A true entertainer ... What a personality ... A wonderful Night Out... for Outstanding Live Music.

Michael smoozes the crowd... when he works his way threw the pub.... to the bar... then back to the adjoining rooms to entertain his admirers... playing Grover Washington. Then he gets into Sky Lark, Brown Eyed Girl Purple Rain!! we all sing along.

Look up his web site he plays every 2 weeks Friday nights next date Feb 1st. @ The Village Inn & Pub.

The Pub is nicely decorated a traditional space with high top tables, wood floors, Beautiful bar, two lounge areas with leather sofas... a rear room with pub tables and comfortable leather chairs.

A must do on St Simons Island... wonderful venue. A memorable evening.

I am sure the rooms are very nice and older stucco building, restored with a small pool in the courtyard.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony would be nice.

As frequent visitors to family in Brunswick, we are always trying new accommodations on SSI, some near the Village, some closer to the north side, in the quieter area near the marshes. Finding a New Year's special on rates, we decided to try the VPI. It was cozy and comfortable. Loved that our room did not have the "hotel room" smell. As an old house person, I appreciate the owner's saving the original beach cottage and Live Oaks. The idea of a cozy pub really attracted us, however, on our first visit we were run out by a very loud frequent guest and his profanity-mouthed date, and were not happy with a charge of almost $14 for one Absolut martini and one domestic bottle beer. Bartender was very knowledgeable of area restaurants.
I thought the breakfast pastries could have been fresher and did not care for the weak coffee. Parking was great, beds very comfortable, we weren't disturbed by noise, shower head was almost clogged with hard-water deposit. Staff was friendly, even calling later after checkout to tell me that housekeeping had found a necklace in my room, although it was the next room, not mine.

I stayed for two nights at the end of October.

My room was super quaint and comfortable, with very nice beds and bedding (fluffy down comforters and crisp sheets). The bathroom was small, but cute, with a hand-knit cotton shower curtain. The free breakfast is great, with "make your own" waffles and lots of fresh fruit, juice and hot tea choices.

The staff was extremely nice and suggested Blackwater Grill for dinner, where I had the best Brunswick Stew of my life. J. Macks (across the street from the Village Inn) was delish, too (Fresh GA Shrimp & Trout). Don't let J. Macks' building's facade fool you, it's white linen service inside.

The Village Inn and Pub is a funky place; appears to be a hybrid between a bed and breakfast and a motor court...

On the positive side:

1. Location in the village. Easy Walking distance to the pier, the lighthouse, restaurants, and some shopping.
2. Very clean and quiet.

On the down side:

1. Found most of the staff to be somewhat brusque and not very hospitable. They would answer questions but it always felt like they wished they were doing something else.
2. The breakfasts are continental plus. Waffles, various breads and pastries, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt etc. Some of the breads pastries were frozen and not above Sam's/Costco quality. Did the breakfasts for two mornings. Could have used some protien...
3. Rooms/bathooms on the smallish side. Also some of the views from the balconies were questionable (parking lot, the DQ next door).

Nice place. Seems like with just a little more effort itg could be something special...

The room was very nice, the bathroom a bit small for my taste but clean. The closet space was also very limited. The bar had some of the coldest beer I drank while on the island. In the middle of everything it seems and a very nice courtyard well landscaped. I plan to stay again and maybe come for some R&R next time.

Room Tip: If you like it quiet and dark choose a room on the Magnolia Street side. If you like to see it all...

This is a quiet and beautiful Inn within walking distance to town. The atmosphere was very laid back. The room was perfect and reception was friendly. There are some wonderful little restaurants within walking distance. I would certainly go back to this lovely Inn.
