Last night was our first visit to this trendy restaurant and we were so glad we were able to get reservations on this busy holiday weekend. Fortunately at the last minute, Angie, the smiling and friendly hostess, was able to enlarge our reservation from 4 to 6 and all six dinners were delicious.
The chef knows how to fry shrimp!! They were simply and perfectly prepared. The special of the evening, black grouper, was cooked to perfection -- ordered blackened. The sides weren't quite as good. The cheese grits weren't special and needed more seasoning and the squash medley was slightly overcooked and mushy. BUT, that having been said, the restaurant was packed and the food was coming out quickly so I'm not complaining, just commenting.
The surprise of the evening was the desert -- Apple Tort. Wow -- just wonderful. Flakey puffed pastry with sliced apples and yummy sauce served with a big dollop of Creme Fraiche. Delicious.
It appears that this is where St. Simons' beautiful people are congregating as the restaurant was full of tastefully dressed men and women. Not a good choice for children or T-shirts.
