As visiting New Yorkers, we love the beauty of SSI, and the friendliness of the residents. One thing we miss, however, is great Italian food.
We went to Sal's for lunch today, and struck up a great conversation with the man himself. Sal is both warm and amusing, in fact, he's a riot! We told him that it was hard to find good veal around SSI. He asked what we ordered for lunch and we told him 'the fresh mozzarella pizza'. He said , in his best Joisey accent, "well you gotta try my veal, I sweah by it!" He insisted on treating us to a dish of veal Marsala ! The veal was so tender, and the Marsala sauce was reduced down for a great flavor , with lots of mushrooms. Sal really spent time chatting with us. He made us feel at home and got us past the bit of homesickness that had recently set in. Recommend you give Sal's a try for great food and ambiance.
