We stayed overnight at the Inn for a wedding after deciding not to stay on a chain on the island and we are so glad we did. The Inn was clean both in the lobby and in the room. The room was large, well furnished and had a beach feel to it. The Inn is walking distance to the lighthouse as well as the shops by the water.

Well, I booked a room through the hotel's website.. for three nights. After arriving I quickly realized that the pictures on the website must be from another hotel... or from their one nice room.

Our room was average, and looked nothing like the website photos. Tiles were falling off the wall in the bathroom, there was a funky smell, no ice machine in the hotel, no iron, no hairdryer.... for the cost of the room, we would have had a better stay at the Hampton Inn. The front desk staff was not at all friendly.

The maid service leaves bags down the entire hall for most of the day-- and when they cleaned our room... they just placed the comforter on the bed, leaving pillows all over the floor!

The only good thing about the hotel was it had a good location-- but there are a lot of hotels in the area that I am sure would have been better.

Save your money and go somewhere else... not worth the money at all!

We should have asked to see the room first...on a spontaneous road trip we ended up on this beautiful little island. Looking for accomodations late in the day, we came across the Inn by the Lighthouse. Good location from the little down town area and the pier. The hotel lobby was decorated contemporarily, deep rich colors, art work. They were able to accomodate a one night stay. Even the hallway to the room was nicely decorated, but all of that completely misrepresented the real accomodations.

The room was very stark, barely had a picture on the wall...the mirror in the bathroom (which was located next to the entry door in the room) was faded and chipped like it was there from the fifties. The bathroom was disgusting. Tub and shower unit was rusty at the seems with a crack in the bottom. Gave the impression that it was dirty. There was a strong odor from a room freshner in the room. It was clear that the facility thought a coat of paint could cover things up.

Ask to see the room first, this hotel is not what it seems on the surface. We couldn't wait to leave....

After a long drive and a close call on the "round de round" circle we stopped at the visitor center for help. We were directed to the St. Simons Inn and one other hotel close by. We were worried because it was Friday late ,so we called the other hotel and were told we could only have a one night stay ,so we drove up to St Simons Inn to try to get a room. We not only got a room we got the Deluxe suite. It was the fanciest place we"ve ever slept in. Really nice bed ,cool lighting ,a surround sound speaker system, and a double headed shower , but if that is not enough ,it had a TV in the bathroom.
We were only going to stay two nights but I wanted to hear Jazz in the Park so we asked to have a additional night added. They were so nice to us they gave us another room and moved our luggage and things for us. The concert was all that I had hoped for and a great way to end a great stay
St Simons Inn was well run with very helpful personnel . We would definitely go back.

We originally planned to stay in one of the deluxe rooms after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. When we arrived, we went ahead and upgraded to the Penthouse Suite ($189/night plus taxes). There was a sign at the counter that said the inn did not rent to people under 25, but Ben, the innkeeper, was a very nice gentleman and let us through anyway. Covered parking is also underneath the inn.

Once we got to our room, we were pleasantly surprised. The entrance was actually a door in the staircase on the 2nd floor. Turn the key and you walk up a flight of stairs to your 3rd floor penthouse. The living area had a nice big sofa with a huge flat panel tv on the wall equipped with a dvd player, stereo system (played even in the bathroom) and mini fridge. We relaxed a lot in this area. The bar area contained champagne flutes and wine glasses. But upon close inspection, you could see lipstick smudges all over them. The view of the lighthouse from the balcony was the best in town. There was also a really cool telescope you could use.

The bedroom had a very soft, but comfortable king size bed. There is also a small flat panel tv that opens out of the dresser. Not much else to say about the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and we slept with no problems.

Onto the bathroom. This is my favorite part of the whole suite. The entrance was covered by padded saloon style doors. All marble interior with a huge sink. The best part is the shower. Make sure you check out the picture. There are actually 2 showerheads in there! The shower is huge.

Overall, for a $20/night extra from the deluxe room, you get a lot more, but it might not be necessary. The inn is only about 50 yards to the Pier and Mallery Street in one direction and another 50 yards the other direction for public beach access.

My family and I stayed for two nights over spring break. We booked the deluxe room which was definately above average in decoration. But we found it to be not so practical. Small things made a big difference. The lighting in the ceiling above the beds, although good looking, was hard to read by at night. We had to turn them off and then the person on the outside could not see to read. Would have been nice to have a bedside table instead of the large tree. The bathroom again was deluxe but no place to put things on the pedestal sink. In fact there was not much space to put anything in the room. No desk, only one luggage rack.

We were within walking distance but I would not recommend St. Simons for children, not enough to do. And it was cold and overcast the two days we were there unfortunately so it really cut down on our options. Luckily the last day the sun came out and we toured Fort Frederica, a great experience. Don't miss it, much bigger and better than we expected.

Although the hotel is "on the beach" there is no beach unless the tide is out, just rocks and a fishing pier. Again, not great for kids.

I may come back with my husband for a quiet weekend of reading but as far as the tourist experience, you may want to choose Disney!
