“Blue Crab balls...”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

I have been here several times over the last few years and I wouldn't agree with posters saying that it has gone downhill. Our food was delightful. The blue crab balls (yes, blue crab balls) were delicious with a light crust on the outside and were quite sizable. They could have used a homemade sauce rather than cocktail and tarter sauces. My wife and I both had a salad. I had fried shrimp on mine which were nice and light and flaky. She had grilled chicken on hers and it was very tender and juicy. Take a load off and enjoy the live music.

“Great Server, Good Food, but no PBR!!”
Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

I am a semi-local. I live in Savannah and my parents are locals. We love to eat here. The wings are spectacular! Unfortunately, the new owners have gotten rid of the $6 pitchers of PBR...in fact, no PBR to be had!! Very sad!! It is not that we are cheap. Our tab is easily over $60. It was nostalgic. Although we will come back, it will not be to the frequency as before. Our last server was amazing. I can not remember his name, but the rocket PBR tattoo on his arm and the story behind it is something to remember.

“Great food, value and atmosphere”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

We enjoyed a wonderful Saturday afternoon enjoying a casual, laid back meal - crab balls, gumbo, steamed shrimp, and a fantastic Vidalia onion dip. Service was prompt even though the place stayed full the two hours we were there. A real treat was listening to the singer/guitarist who had a great repertoire of songs from James Taylor to Jimmy Buffet to Otis Redding. Wish I could remember his name - would love to give him a shout-out.

“Gone Downhill”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

We are part-time locals and Gnat's has always been on our list of favorites. It's never been fancy but it has always been consistent and a good value. Not any more, unfortunately. We had dinner there tonight and were sorry to find that the portion sizes have shrunk dramatically. The "large" slaw bowl is barely enough for one, let alone two, as before ~ and that's at $8.95 with no chicken or shrimp added ~ just basically part of a bag of slaw. (To add insult to injury, they charged us $10.95 and we had to ask that the bill be recalculated.) The half order of pickles is now less than half of what it was a year ago. We are sorry to say goodbye to one of our favorites restaurants on St. Simons. Get it together, Gnats, lest you fold like so many others!
