“Relaxing Week;end”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

We had a very relaxing week-end at the King and Prince. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Because it was January we had no high tide problem. Beach is easy to walk. Would definately return for another stay.

We stayed here for the first time last fall and loved it. When we got an email from them offering us their winter specials we jumped at it. We were offered an oceanfront room at a wonderful price so we made reservations from 1/10/2013-1/13/2013. It was winter so we did not expect much as far as weather was concerned but we just wanted to stay at the hotel again since we enjoyed it so much the first time. As luck would have we had an Indian winter and it was sunny and in the 70s the whole time we were there. The beach was packed which just made the trip that much better. A great hotel and beautiful weather in January is hard to beat. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Oceanfront bldg top floor is hard to beat

We only live an hour away. But got a room and surprised my husband for Christmas. Loved, loved this resort and, the service was impeccable. The food in the restaurant was really good. We will be back and bring our family with us.

Relaxing and quiet but it was January. I imagine it gets pretty crowded in the summer months but goes with being a tourist destination. Stayed in the historic building with balcony room, no problems. The staff was very kind, visit went well.

My husband and I chose this location based on their website and we were not dissapointed. Although the Resort is going through renovations, the service was great, the accomodations were excellent and the location breathtaking! Definitely will be back :)

Room Tip: Ocean front is the way to go. Loved being able to hear the waves from my bed. We stayed in the Histo...

It is nice, the service was very good! The house is surrounded by a low fence. It is an old property, that is very well maintained. The main pool is big with a kid area my boys love. Beds are nice, kitchen is modestly equipped. There are good restaurants within easy walking distance.

I have not stayed in hotel only the Hampton House for 3 summers!

Food: We cook a lot, and grill! They have a Starbuck on property. I have only had take-out and it was OK, not great. I had a shrimp po-boy a couple of times from the pool area bar. The best lunch bet is at the park next door or down the beach at a food truck called "the smoking pig" great people who use the profits to feed homeless and children in Brunswick. They have shaved ice, bbq, and fried shrimp. Good folks!!!

The Beach disappears at low tide and can get crowded during holiday weeks. But during mid-week summer it is yours. The waves during high tide are great. There is a sand bar that does create a dangerous distraction because of the undertow if you choose to swim out to it.

The house is very large two story 4 bedroom each room has a bath except for a kids room that shares a bath with another room.

Warning:
The sand bar is a long swim at points and the tides change and undertow kills. For us it is always tough swimming back in. While we were there the life guards assisted a couple of swimmer who were in undertow. Its can be bad, just beware that the swim is long, the water is deep and the current coming back can make it a challenge. If you are not confident with how to swim in undertow and potential strong currents be advised. Take a raft and life- jackets for little kids or average swimmers. Some times the current is calm, but often it changes.

I would not recommend taking kids to the sand bar BUT that is because I have personally been trapped in a "rip tide" at another beach and it can be scary. When the current gets a child they panic and it could be dangerous.

The Hampton House has a yard and a parking area. Great for kids!

Room Tip: Early church at Saint Simons Community is awesome and very casual.

The King and Prince has kept the charm of her origin and coupled great service with spectacular views, comfortable rooms, and southern hospitality for an outstanding get a way! Having frequented K & P in the 70's and 80's, I am pleased that the owners have kept the resort family friendly, but still an excellent place for my husband and I to rest and unwind after a busy season of work, family, and holidays. It was also tastefully decorated for the Christmas season, making it more special!

Room Tip: My husband and I had an oceanfront room with a balcony that was perfect for watching the sunrises an...
