“Food is good but very over-priced”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

This restaurant is located in the middle of nowhere and is not worth the drive. My wife and I visited this establishment while staying at the Chanticleer Inn located in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. I had looked this restaurant up on Tripadvisor prior to our stay and was expecting a special dining experience. This proved not to be the case. The service was bad and this was a Sunday night! I had to continually bother our waitress for more bread and a Diet Coke and as a whole we were ignored. My steak was very good but was expensive and any side dishes were extra. I've eaten at many high end restaurants and the atmosphere here was nothing special. It was crowded and noisy and as I said the service was bad. I would not eat here again!

“Unexpected Jewel in the Middle of Nowhere!”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

We have a Rental Cottage, VRBO#453039, about 10 minutes from this Restaurant & ate here for the 1st time. Tremendous!! What a complete surprise & delight! The Menu is wonderful, creative, & fresh. Service was VERY Professional ( you actually have a Team, serve you) & the entire experience was beyond our expectations. Being in the Restaurant Business, both my Husband & Myself tend to be VERY Harsh with our critiques. This Restaurant was a breath of fresh air to us.
One complication, however does require a fore thought. Alcohol sales are prohibited in this county. The Restaurant does not have a bar. You ARE allowed to BYOB, (very odd to see folks wandering around w/bottles in paper bags!!) Wine glasses are supplied by the staff. We did not know that fact, but now that we do, & you do too, we will be prepared, the next time.
Service Hours are Slim as well. They close early & are Closed a few days per week. Call or visit the website for hours to be sure. Another note, they are not cheap!
We eagerly await our next meal @ the Canyon Grill

“Consistently Excellent!”
Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

Canyon Grill restaurant always serves the freshest food available. They've started serving two wood grilled pizzas on Wednesdays and Sundays that are quite delicious. They have a fennel sausage pizza and a margherita pizza. They do buy locally grown sausage for their pizza. The pizzas are almost a little too small for dinner alone. You have to accompany them with a salad or some other side. However they're quite reasonable at $10-$12. The fresh fish is always great. The crabcakes are perfect and reasonably priced at $12.95. Their filet is extraordinary, but be prepared to pay for it at $38.95. All salads and sides are à la carte ranging anywhere from $2.95 to $5.95. The house salad is the best! It is baby lettuces topped with slices of red onions, candied pecans that are divine, and two pepperoncini peppers. The garlic mashed potatoes are always a winner but a little pricey at $4.95. The grilled red cabbage is fantastic. It is a large wedge of red cabbage grilled on their wood grill and a little more reasonable at $3.95. Sometimes they have other vegetables available that aren't on the menu so ask your server. They also bring the freshest baked bread and butter to your table with dinner and it is great!

Equally as wonderful as the food is the atmosphere! It's a great place to unwind relax and have a fantastic meal! Highly recommended!

“Diamond in the Rough”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Perhaps you'll let its location fool you: a half-hour trip through the twisting trails of Lookout Mountain. Perhaps you'll let its decor fool you: string lights, glass-top tables with menus and business cards tucked underneath. But I suggest that you don't let anything fool you: Canyon Grill is great! We had some wonderful appetizers with truly unique tastes. Then, dinner was even better. I had the ground mingnon with a Cognac sauce while my wife had the rack of lamb. Both were wonderful: full of flavor, expertly prepared. Only complaint: a la carte. Sides come and are charged separately from the entrees. Of course, this is really just a minor complaint. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Canyon Grill if you dare the drive.

“Excellent food, but expensive and WAY out of the way”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

You have to really want to go to the Canyon Grill, because it'll take you at least 30 minutes to get there from downtown Chattanooga. But it's hard to say it's not worth the drive, as the food is excellent. It's located in a dry county, so it's BYOB. It's pretty funny to walk into a nice restaurant where people are dressed very well and see people carrying in coolers full of beer or wine. I don't think it's required, but you'll definitely want to make reservations. Being so far out of the way and being kinda expensive, it's more of a special occasion place. Based on the location, you might think it's kinda rednecky, but that is definitely NOT the case. It feels more like a restaurant that you'd find on the North Shore or Downtown. If you are an out-of-town visitor, it's probably notthe best place to go as there are other fine restaurants in town, but for locals it's a nice every-once-in-a-while treat.
