There is no way I’d stay here again. We pulled in at 1:00, packed up and left by 4. There’s absolutely nothing pretty about the campground unless you like to camp in scrub pines and tall pines. Very old, run down. Restrooms were fairly clean, but old. With marsh land you get bugs. Lots and lots of bugs. GA low country is just not for us.

We stayed at one of the cottages, it was fantastic. Clean, modern plenty of room, wonderful screened in porch. The park is very nice and clean, saw some deer and raccoons, drove thru the campground, it was also very nice. Will stay again for sure.

I tent camped with my sons last weekend at the Fort McAllister State Historic Park Campground. Pros. Nice camp site very well raked prior to arrival, decent privacy although not complete privacy and tent pad was level and big enough to fit too tents. Bathrooms were reasonable for a state park campground. Cons: Too many raccoons. Tent sites are first come first serve. Additional fee required to tour the historic fort.

Room tip: Arrive early for first come first selection tent site.

Overall campground is good, sites fairly large with trees and brush; camp ring and table. Staff very good to check and maintain. Bathrooms although are old and dated they are kept clean and water pressure is great for showers. Close to fishing dock and playground. Raccoon's can be a nuisance, very many throughout campground all day and night.

Nice campground for a weekend. Tent sites up on sand pads. The tent sites are spread out enough and are on a separate ro from RV's. Secure campsite with gated access. Bathhouse clean but dated. Good dock and boat ramp into Redbird Creek. Fort McAllister worth visiting, especially for Civil War buff.
