The incredibly kind and service minded owners Annette and Marc-Andre help you with everything from spending an awesome morning sailing the lagoon to cooking a delicatesse meal for you and giving you the best tips on where to shop and all.
Great room, just by the water, stunning sunsets from terrace, fully equipped kitchen and accessories such as DVD, free movies and books among others.
They even pick you up from the airport and take you to the grocery store :) Makes you feel like you are among family members and you just want to go back there asap!

“Lovely place for the independent traveler looking for an affordable and local, non-resort vacation.”

My 24-year-old daughter and I spent 5 nights in the bungalow. We had rain every day, and still had a great vacation. Marc-Andre and Annette were extremely helpful in arranging our activities--which included a jet-ski tour, a snorkeling outing, scuba diving, a local culture show, and a trip to Matira Beach for the arrival of the outrigger canoe race competitors. On one of our very rainy days, Annette was able to arrange for us to have a massage right in the bungalow (this was awesome). The bungalow itself is quite comfortable and well-appointed. We used the kitchen for several meals, the bathroom was very nice, and the king-size bed was comfortable. It was great to be picked up at the airport dock, and for Marc-Andre to take us to buy groceries en route to the bungalow. When the internet worked, the wifi was great, and included in the price. They had a nice assortment of English-language movies and a DVD player.

We were pleased with our stay, as it was affordable, and left plenty of room in our budget to take full advantage of the many (expensive) activities and restaurants. However, if you are looking for a resort experience, or the Bora Bora vacation of your dreams per the travel brochures, this will be disappointing. All the fancy resorts are located on motus--small barrier reef islands that surround the mainland--which have beautiful beaches and amazing blue water. There is nothing on the motu except the resorts--no real roads or housing. On the mainland, there isn't much to see snorkeling right off the shore and the color of the water is more brown than blue. The bungalow is right on the road and despite the beautiful garden and visual separation from the road, it was actually quite noisy at all hours (including late night and early morning) due to traffic as well as neighborhood roosters and children. There isn't anything to do right nearby--each outing requires a car or bike ride to the vendor's location. When it rained, we couldn't really use the deck, and we ended up feeling we wanted to go on outings daily, as we couldn't just walk out to common areas (e.g. bar, restaurant, beach, fitness center). However, we probably would have wanted to do most of these activities even if we'd stayed at a resort, and we saved literally $1,000/per night by staying at the Bungalow. It was a good trade-off!

“Fell in Love with Bungalove too!!!”

My husband and I spent a blissful week at "Bungalove Too" during the month of May. Leading up to our visit I made all our arrangements with Annette over Email. Following our arrival at the Bora Bora airport, we took a water taxi to the mainland. The boat ride is an amazing first peek at heaven on earth! Marc-Andre met us at the boat dock and we instantly knew we were in good hands. He took us to pick up some groceries and show us some landmarks along the route “home” to the bungalow. We joked that Marc-Andre is like the unofficial mayor of Bora Bora. Everyone on the island seems to know him. Annette greeted us with a lovely juice and hugs when we arrived at the bungalow. They have lovingly restored this bungalow from a former hotel to meet their guests every need. There is a well stocked kitchenette, large living area, double sink bathroom, extra beds in a loft, free wifi, and of course the amazing waterfront view from your large deck! They have laundry and a car you can rent from them on site. Also bikes and kayaks you can use at your leisure. There are a couple small shops about a 5 min walk from the house and a mobile grocer that drives by twice a day! Marc-Andre is a former head chef and we highly recommend having him prepare a meal for you. We enjoyed a fantastic group dinner with other guests in the original Bungalove as well as Annette and Marc-Andre. Marc-Andre also helped us arrange several excursions that we’re the best of our month long visit to the FP islands! While we had plenty of privacy, we chose to connect with our hosts and the other guests to enhance our time there. It felt like visiting with friends or family. While we stayed at 5star resorts and hotels the other 3 weeks of our trip, Bungalove was truly a special place to really experience life and community in French Polynesia. I can’t wait to return!

“It was like staying with friends in paradise”

Just returned from a fantastic 10 day stay with Annette and Marc André. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the wonderful location and comfort of the bungalow.

The bungalow was transported by boat from a hotel that has now closed. It has been placed perfectly by the edge of the lagoon and steps from the deck lead straight into water. After a very short walk in the water (my reef shoes were great as my feet are so soft) you are straight into a snorkelling paradise. As another reviewer said - Annette takes Nina and Lady (their dogs) for a swim and snorkel every evening. I enjoyed watching this from my lounger with a large glass of wine in hand although was very much invited to join them if I wanted.

During our stay, we found that there was only a small amount of noise - music from the village and children playing. This was at most on part of about 3 days but even I, who usually hates lots of noise, did not find it intrusive at all.

Marc and Annette could not do more for us. They were extremely friendly but had the skill to be there only when we wanted them to be. They arranged a number of trips for us and we rented their car a few times to explore the island.

We went to one of the flash resorts for the day which was stunning .... although we were relieved to return to our bungalow - listening to people around us at the resort loudly complaining about the cost of everything and the standard of the food etc was a bit tiresome!

All in all, I would return tomorrow. I can not think of anything I would change.

Many thanks to our hosts.

“An authentic Pacific island experience”
Reviewed April 27, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

You might choose to stay in a resort on one of the motus off the main island of Bora Bora – but if you do it would be a completely different experience to staying in the Bungalove chalet of Annette and Marc André Zani. They personally take you under their wing and try to make sure you make the most of your time. One of the special experiences we had was going on an hour long snorkelling expedition with Annette and her 2 dogs. We also really appreciated being able to hire one of their cars for 2 half days: although bikes are available for free, we found the heat and humidity too oppressive to consider that. We also appreciated a meal prepared by Marc André on our first evening – he was a chef at one of the resorts for many years and then the local baker on the island. The “Bungalove too” chalet was recently installed in their lush tropical garden: they had bought it from a resort that had closed. It was spacious and well equipped, with steps down into the lagoon and an outdoor shower. It’s obviously not new, but it costs a fraction of the price of a resort hotel.

You are, in many ways, integrated into local life when you stay at Bungalove: with music and the sound of children playing most of the day, in the evening the sound of the local dogs having territorial disputes, and in the morning the local cockerels crowing. But you can watch amazing sunsets – and then use the free wifi from the bungalow to immediately post the pictures online! Annette is a big-mama French school ma’am; Marc André is also a character, being a chunky, bilingual artist with lots of local knowledge, as he is a guide for the visiting cruise ships. There are so many environments on Bora Bora! You may be surprised at the simple shacks of the locals living on Bora Bora. Or the rich underwater life of coral and tropical fish just outside the bungalow. Or the ever-changing views of the mountains. A rich experience….
