“Broken Smelly Rooms”
Reviewed March 28, 2007

This Microtel has some serious problems. The front desk clerk made it clear when we checked in that we had disturbed her. She shoved a paper at us to sign, then shoved a room key card at us, without ever looking at us or saying more than a few words. When I asked which way
to the room, she acted angry and pointed. The room had an awful odor,
and the TV did not work, either did the air conditioner. I went back to the desk and asked for another room. The clerk was rude and complained about how maintenance is always a problem. The next room smelled badly and a couple of lights were burned out, but we stayed.
The rooms are so tiny that you can hardly turn around. Around 6 a.m. the next morning, we heard housekeeping shouting at each other in the
hallway and banging on room doors. I quickly put a Do Not Disturb sign on the room door, but that did not stop housekeeping from banging on our room door and wanting to know how soon we were checking out. Breakfast consisted of very watered down orange juice, dry toast, and some of the worst tasting coffee I ever had. Do not stay here. There are many other lodging choices in the area.

We stayed for one night in early March and paid $58 plus tax. The room was spacious and clean and the complimentary breakfast was above average. The motel is very close to the airport and near a small shopping area. We would definitely stay here again.

I just called Microtel in Pooler, Savannah, GA few minutes ago, asking for their rates. I was greeted with a very tired and lazy voice by the receptionist. She answered my questions with plain "yes" and "no", and the worst is put me on hold without respect. They need to put at least an educated person in the front desk.

Stayed with a large tour group from suburban Chicago (21 rooms total).
The smell of the rooms almost made you gag when you first unlocked the door. My room smelled like urine. Several (approx 8) rooms had to be switched because of the smell.(mine included). Filthy carpet, dirty bathrooms, bloody handprint on wall, blood on bedspread. Some mattress's were even changed to new ones. Over use of airfreshner spray. "As if it would help". The manager really did try to make everone happy. Breakfast was very basic. Cereal, bagels, donuts , etc. seemed fresh. Orange juice was watery. No fresh fruit.
Young women that was the morning desk clerk very rude and nasty. Used foul language and talked about us to her fellow employees. Some of the group left the tour and went to another hotel when tour company did not move us to another motel as promised. The dirt, mold and oder of their room gave them breathing problems. In all my years of traveling this was the worse motel I have ever stayed in. The other motels we stayed in during our 7 night trip were fine.

I would have rated this place a little higher, except it has rude employees. Our room was clean and comfortable, and all equipment worked, including the wireless hi-speed internet. The breakfast was what would be expected at a budget motel, coffee, pastries, cereal, & milk, enough to get your day started. They had juice, but it was very watered down. It is conveniently located to I-95, and Western Sizzler is just down the street, a great place to eat. The evening we checked in the desk clerk was more interested in watching TV than treating us like customers. The next morning, at breakfast, the desk clerk was very rude. She told us not to touch to TV, even to adjust the volume, because SHE liked some noise in the lobby. This is a woman who obviously has no idea she is in the hospitality business to make her customers happy. Additionally, the same morning desk clerk bickered with another guest over how the guest should not use more than one plate for breakfast, as it fills up the trash too quickly. I could not believe how rude and loud this desk clerk was. I asked for the manager, but he was not there. The desk clerk very loudly told me that the manager always agrees with her anyway. What a jerk. As we were leaving, the maintenance man was pressure washing the building, unknown to us. When I opened the door, I got soaked from his spray. He offered no apology, in fact, he just kept right on working and ignored me. Too bad the employees here are not trained in basic courtesy, because the property is a fairly nice place, at a great price. We paid $50 for one night.
Be prepared to deal with some very arrogant and rude employees, if you decide to stay here.

Not a bad hotel to stay at. We pulled in here after an emergency stop at the hospital and were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and had microwave and fridge. It is also located on 80, which was super easy to get to historic Savannah and Tybee Island.
Nothing fancy, but absolutley do-able.

We visit Savannah often, and almost always stay at Microtel in Pooler.
It's a short drive from the historic district, on a four-laned highway.
The motel is always clean and the staff is always friendly. This location has caused us to look for a Microtel anywhere we travel.
