“Good, but not great”
Reviewed October 3, 2011

My wife and I stayed in their whirlpool suite in mid-September. The rate for this type of room was better than others in the area, which we appreciated. The location is perfect if you're going to Savannah most of the time--about fifteen minutes from downtown. It's a little difficult to get to from the road the first time, but that's unavoidable. When we arrived in Pooler before check-in time, we stopped in at the Magnolia to ask some questions. The gentleman at the front desk was pretty unfriendly, but he didn't know yet that we had a reservation. When we did check in some hours later, it was a complete turnaround on his part, and everything became "yes sir" and "of course sir." The suite was nice, decorated well for a hotel room, and it was clean except for some stuff in the whirlpool tub, which we took care of ourselves. It was, however, very small, even compared to less expensive suites in the area, and we felt a little cramped. If the suites without a whirlpool are the same size, however, it might not be as bad. We were treated well by the rest of the staff and even allowed to grab a few donuts when we arrived late for breakfast. The weekend rates are pretty high, though, so we checked out the next day. It was a pretty good experience, but the treatment from gentleman at the front desk before he knew we were paying kicked it off on the wrong note. Also, the price is high for the size of the room and amenities offered.

Room Tip: Stay on a week day and get a coupon book from the gas station.

We saw the other "chain" hotels and decided to try the Magnolia Inn. Found a coupon at the reststop. We made a good choice. The staff was great--pleasant and friendly! Breakfast was minimal, but it had everything one needs to start the day. Thank you for a good night's rest!

The Magnolia Inn is a great find if you are planning on staying and visiting Savannah. I will tell you this I have stayed at this location twice in the last two years and once I was solo for a few days. It was well kept, maintained, clean rooms, comfortable beds. The breakfast if the norm, but there are many other great places to eat in the area. It is a short drive into Savanna and the Riverwalk either take the local route or the freeway, either way you can't go wrong. Such a nice pleasant surprise my first visit in 09 that I returned again last year and shall be going back again soon. A nice drive to Tybee Island to check out the Lighthouse. Very nice staff as well.

We were looking for a place to stay close to I95. This is not a huge motel, but it's new, exceptionally clean, quiet, reasonably priced, and met all of our needs. The continental breakfast includes all the basics and was pleased to see some fresh fruit (bananas) included. I would definitely stay here again.

We stopped for the night & were very pleased with the hotel. The bathroom was a bit small, but everything else was great. Others reported a poor breakfast, but we saw fruit, cereal, bagels, muffins, & waffles. I would suggest getting a GA hotel coupon book to save some money on the stay.

This hotel was clean and comfortable, for the most part. The bed was comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. The toilet and shower were separate from the sink and mirror, which is nice; although the bathroom door was very very close to the toilet, which made getting in and out of the bathroom tight. The shower seemed to leak a bit; a small puddle of water was on the bathroom floor after showering. The doors were locked after a certain hour and required a room key to enter; we arrived late, but were able to get our key from an attendant at a window just outside the main door.

What I really disliked about the hotel was the misinformation printed on the website. The website listed "jacuzzi" as a general amenity. There is no public jacuzzi; some rooms- but not all - have a jacuzzi bath tub in the room. Also know that while there is a complimentary breakfast, it ends at 9 am. We stayed two nights, and we were not able to make it out of our room in time for breakfast.

Going to Savannah from this hotel was a very easy drive.
