Description: Tucked inside the Callaway Gardens Country Store(R), where picture windows reveal a breathtaking ridgetop view, the Country Kitchen specializes in down-home Southern dishes with a creative flair. Start your day with a heaping plate of smoked pork and eggs benedict, or enjoy a fried-chicken-and-vegetable combo for lunch or dinner - washed down, of course, with an ice-cold serving of sweet tea right out of a mason jar. Whatever you fancy, your taste buds are sure to be tickled at this Callaway Gardens institution. Meals are not served between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. as the kitchen switches the line from breakfast to lunch/dinner.

Southern cooking and good service can be found at this hill-top restaurant. The views are spectacular...request a window! I've been back several times! The country store in front of the eating area reminds me of a Cracker Barrel and the Southern menu is excellent. My husband ordered meatloaf, which was not warm enough but they replaced it with a chicken fried steak, without question. The corn muffins and biscuits with muscadine preserves were AMAZING!

Like fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, black eyed peas, collard greens and everything southern, then this is the place to eat while visiting Callaway Gardens. Your $10 meal will send you away full and with enough carryout for your next meal. Top it off with sweet tea and pecan pie and you will know you have visited Georgia. This is the only Callaway Gardens restaurant outside the park with great views of the gardens below and the valleys around pine mountain.

Love the biscuits, and of course, with the muscadine jelly. Service was a bit slow this time around though.

The breakfast was excellent--had the ultimate omelette that with the baskets and jelly was enough to last until dinner time. Great way to start the day followed by a walk in the gardens. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we try to go here every time we are at Callaway. Another great breakfast place to remember.

We arrived at Callaway Gardens early and opted to have lunch first before we did any activities. Boy were we glad we did. I personally had the veggie burger...I want that recipe! It was awesome!!! Fresh, delicious food was a hit with all the guys. They ordered the burgers, and fries, as well as the fried green tomato sandwich and ate every bite and loved them. Great place for a family to sit and relax and enjoy the view. The little country store area sells some excellent items and is worth browsing through. We'll eat there again on our next visit!
