“Make You Feel Like A Part of the Family”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

This was our first visit to a B&B. We originally were only going to stay one night but after such a great first impression we extened for two additional nights. We stayed in the Governor's Suite. A nice spacious room on the first floor with a sitting area, private entrance and large bathroom. There is a VCR in the room and a redbox within walking distance. We rented a movie our last night and relaxed in the room. The house is beautifully decorated but warm and inviting at the same time. The porch has a swing and is nice to sit on to relax or just read a book. Coffee, Tea, water and snacks are available all day.

We visited in July and was able to enjoy the pool in the evening. After a day of touring FDR park and Warm Springs, GA it was nice to come back and take an evening swim to cool off.

Breakfast was great..southern breakfast..grits w/cheese, bacon, homemade biscuits, homemade pear preserves, eggs, coffee, OJ.

There are three bdr cottages behind the pool that are perfect for families or big groups. I had a chance to walk through one of them and they were very nice. Full kitchen and two sitting areas.

Last but not least. Paul and Donna are the perfect Innkeepers. They are just the best. You want be disappointed. Our first visit but definately not our last!

This is our second visit with Paul and Donna. We stayed two nights after visiting some relatives nearby. We came back so that we could visit Calloway Gardens with the flowers in bloom. We had a wonderful time and this time stayed in one of the cottages in the back yard. The place was very clean and we enjoyed having the kitchette area so that we could use the leftovers from the nearby resturants for our lunch meal.
It is a short walk to the small downtown area of Pine Mountain with a couple resturants and about a dozen antique and gift shops.

Room Tip: If you want to enjoy antiques and architecture stay at main house. For a little more privacy and th...

We were going to only spend one night at The Chipley Murrah but we were so comfortable and it was so welcoming and peaceful we stayed a second night! Paul & Donna were the perfect hosts. They made us feel at home and made us the most beautiful and delicious breakfasts. The way they not only served us but encouraged us was a gift to all of us who were guests. We would highly recommend this B & B!!

Room Tip: Have them show you around or check the web site

We visited the Chipley Murrah House for two nights and found it to be an exceptional B&B. I have stayed in about half a dozen in the southeast, and this place topped the list.

The house itself is gorgeous. The architecture and furnishings just lovely. It is located only 1 block from the quaint little town of Pine Mountain and 1 mile from the entrance to Calloway Gardens. We also visited FDR State Park for horseback riding and hiking, which was less than a 10 minute drive. Great location, very convenient.

The hosts, Donna and Paul, provide unequaled service to their guests. Their rooms were filled to capacity during our stay, but they always took the time to visit with us on our way in or out and after breakfast. The breakfasts were wonderful, a delicious quiche and grits and a full southern breakfast with homemade biscuits and homemade jams, always accompanied by fresh fruit and tea or coffee and juice. In addition to breakfast each morning, they provide two refrigerators with cold drinks and a butler's pantry with snacks and assorted sweets for the midday or midnight sweet tooth.

Our bedroom was tastefully decorated and comfortable. The tub/shower provided a well-needed soak and fresh towels welcomed us each afternoon. Details such as monogrammed robes, complimentary lavendar soaps, and a selection of romance DVDs for lazy afternoons were provided as well.

If visiting during the summer, an in-ground pool and putting green are in the rear yard, surrounded by the additional rental "cabins" on the spacious property. We will definitely return!

Room Tip: Magnolia Room bath is located down the hall; other rooms have adjoining bathroom.

Part of the reason for staying in a B & B is the people. The hosts and the other guests provide richness to the experience that is not available in other venues. Donna and Paul are wonderful hosts. We were there for five days and had a lovely time.

We had a different breakfast each day. I would have trouble pointing out one I liked best, They were all great.

The house is full of delightful antique furniture and artwork. I am sure there is a story behind every piece.

The azaleas around the house were as nice as the ones we saw at Calloway.

We hope to go back next year.

Room Tip: The Governor's Suite on the ground floor has its own private entrance off the porch.

As a lifelong southerner, the Chipley Murrah House is the kind of place you wish all non-southerners would stay so they would know the uniqueness of southern hospitality. Paul & Donna have created a Bed & Breakfast experience that leaves nothing but a good taste in your mouth. My wife and I wanted to see the Fantasy in Lights extravaganza at Calloway Gardens during the Christmas holidays. We arrived on a Monday afternoon and immediately met our two hosts. When we left for the light show, they gave us blankets (it was cold) to help keep us warm. We stayed in the Governor's Suite. It featured a king-sized four poster bed, sitting area, flat screen tv, DVD player, Santa Claus checkerboard, antique armoire, large bathroom divided into two rooms with a clawfoot tub with shower. The breakfast as prepared by Donna was different each day, but always featured fresh fruit, eggs and some kind of french toast that was awesome. They directed us to two great places for dinner, Aspen Grill and Carriage & Horses (see our review of this winner). In short, I can't imagine what more they could have done to make our stay one of the best times we have ever experienced. I forgot to mention that our room had its own private entrance, but frankly we didn't use it much because we got to talk with Paul and Donna by going out the main part of the house. This place is an absolutely unmatched bed and breakfast experience.

Room Tip: Governor's Suite makes you feel like a king.
