“Amazing gardens”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

These gardens are quite huge. You either need the car to get around or use one of the rental bikes.
There is a golf course and fishing lake in the grounds as well as a cafe and Discovery centre. A Birds of Prey demonstration is held in the Discovery Centre but this is very poor. Only three birds are shown and very little flying.
There is a magnificent Horticultural Centre with many hundreds of different species. When we went there was a lot of topiary in the form of rabbits, I presume that this was left over from Easter. Having a quick look in their nursery it looked as though they were getting ready for a different display.

Thank you for visitng us here at Callaway Gardens. I hate to hear that there were only three birds flyiing the day you visited the Birds of Prey Show. They do rotate the birds from show to show so that they do not get over worked. Thank you again for your patronage and for sending in the review.

“Don't go in October”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

I am a GA native and had never been to Callaway Gardens so my honey wanted to take me for our anniversary. First off don't go in October as there is nothing to do. I wish that the lady in the booth would have told us this as I would have saved my money. We did go to the Butterfly House and it was very nice. We quite enjoyed it. We really wanted to go fishing and others were out on the lake but no one was manning the shop so that we could rent poles and buy bait. We waited there for about 20 minutes. We walked around and came back bu no one was ever there. So we decided to drive around the park. The grounds were being prepared for the Christmas Holiday. I guess that would have been a treat if the lights were lit. If we decide tom come back it would be during the PEAK SEASON. I would suggest that you train the staff at the gate to ask if this is the 1st time visiting and letting guest know what is open. I can not honestly say that I would be willing to visit again as I was quite disappointed.

Apologies on the fishing. We do hope that you will visit us again soon when there are more things for you to do. I have passed this review along to our Manager of the Gates so that it may help the next person who comes through. Beginning June 1, there are lots of things to do. You can do the obstacle course part 1 and part 2 at TreeTop Adventure, swim in Robin Lake Beach, Play tennis, Golf, fish, ride bikes, see the FSU Flying High Circus, and there are many speciality events through out the year.

“Nice day trip from Atlanta area.”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

The Butterfly House was probably the coolest thing here, seeing large number and variety of butterflies flying around you, and sometimes even landing on you.
Also enjoyed the Birds of Prey show. The girl doing the narration was very good at her job, and you've probably seen birds at other animal parks, swooping down from the back to the front, but here these birds are practically daredevils...they swoop so low that quite a few people get to feel a wingtip brush their hair, or have those talons miss their head by about an inch! Don't sit way up front, sit towards the middle so you get a chance to watch the people in front duck (or not duck!) and watch these birds play "chicken" with them!

“great place to visit”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

I really enjoyed going around the park and getting to see all the different flowers. The butterfly house is neat to visit and to see all the different types. We even got to see one emerge from its cocoon. The azaleas were in bloom and were beautiful, can't wait to visit again.

We appreciate your great review of the azaleas and of the Gardens. The azalea watch is very helpful, especially if you are coming from out of town and mainly to see the azalea displays. Thank you for your time visiting here with us and for sending us in a great review.

“Azaleas Blooming Blowout!”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Something truly magical takes place early April at Callaway Gardens. Their monster collection of azaleas start blooming and goes for a couple of weeks until you can't see the forest for the bushes. Brilliant reds, deep reds, deeper reds going into purple to whites so white you would think them painted on. Pinks and orange and blues also bloom out. The Sibley Garden Center has tulips and lilies in bloom as well. We try to see these plants every year. Also know that Callaway Gardens has an azalea watch webcam. This is useful as the plants are sensitive to frost burn and may turn brown in a day. Enjoy, we do.
They have stay over specials from month to month.
