“A Delight For Your Tastebuds”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

If you have never stopped by the Oil Lamp in Perry, Ga., you are cheating yourself out of a eyes closed, smile on face, tummy tickling delight. The only drawback to this jewel is that they are not open weekends. The food is so good it makes you want to slap your grandma. Don't forget to try a slice of their heavenly pie!

Love the food but wish they delivered. The food is wonderful and tea is the best. Yummy. No dislikes, waitress was very helpful with directions.

“Southern Cooking at its Finest!”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

This restaurant is owned and operated by Mennonites. Local, home grown and fed food. This is a walk thru order place where the salad is first. When you come up to the entrée you will be more than pleased with your choices! They usually have 4 meats ready to eat and a "special" that can be ordered. The hamburger steak is out of this world! The shredded roast beef is wonderful! In the vegetables you have many choices. If they have the "loaded mash potato's" are absolutely to die for! Desserts! Desserts! ALL homemade pies and cakes! My husband loves their pecan pie. I like the chess pie. I'm sure they are all great!

Long story short, you can't go wrong with anything you decide to eat here! Just remember, they are closed after the lunch crowd on Wednesdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.

“Great, local Option”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

We stopped mid afternoon for late lunch. No cars in the parking lot, which might have been of concern, except I had eaten here before. The cafeteria-style allows you to see all the options, which of course makes it difficult to choose, because they all look wonderful! They offer all kinds of price combos beginning with meat and one vegetable on up, including the highest price, $15 which included meat, sides, salad, dessert, and drink. You can add extra meat and vegetables to any of their combos as well - mix and max is pretty unlimited. Roast chicken was tender, moist, and tasty....I had a vegetable plate [4 of about 10] and all were perfectly seasoned and hot. Delicious cornbread. They had 6 regular pie choices and about 12 in the cooler - difficult choices! but the coconut cream was a winner. Service was good with refilling water, removing dirty dishes. Only complaint - the room was very, very cold - fortunately I keep a jacket in the car; but it did cool down the food quickly.

“Wonderful Meal”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We stayed at a campground in Perry during the week of the Ga. National Fair and had a chance to eat at the Oil Lamp. We went on the recommendation of the owners of the campground but would have gone anyway once we saw the parking lot. It was full of local vehicles. The place is comfortable and the food was great. The roast beef tasted alot like the roast beef at Yoder's Place in Montezuma Ga. Overall it was a good experience. The only negative thing I could say was that there seemed to be only one waitress on during a very busy lunch hour. Poor girl was working herself to death. We will definitly eat there next time we are in the area.
