Description: In 2017, we grew our family again, adopting two well-established and well-loved restaurants. Morganton-based Cucina Rustica and La Pizzeria at Cucina Rustica were opened by longtime friends of ours years before we arrived in Blue Ridge. When they were thinking of retiring, we saw the opportunity to own the land where our restaurants would live. So we purchased the two Italian-style concepts and brought in Danny’s touch with fresh ingredients and classic European chef training. Cucina Rustica is focused on a fine dining experience with Danny’s interpretation of Old World Italian foods from Sicilian fish dishes to Northern Italian pastas and everything in between. La Pizzeria at Cucina is your classic New York-style pizza place. A place where everyone knows your name and what you like on your pie. We love that – we both grew up with those classic places in our hometowns in Connecticut and Philadelphia.

“Outstanding!”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

Were here 3 years ago and had a great meal. One sign of a great restaurant is consistency and this time was no different. Their pizza is a "Napoletana" done in a wood burning oven and made with quality ingredients and has a charred crust that is to die for. When I see my kids eating the crust of a pizza, you know that it's good. I ordered the antipasta appetizer which had a great assortment of meats, cheeses (had some nice chunks of parmesano reggiano), olives and peppers. It took me back in time to Sunday dinners in the Bronx when you could make a meal of the antipasta alone. My wife ordered a gluten free pizza and I had the Veal parmigiana. The quantity and quality of the food is simply amazing. This is now a regular stop on our visits to Blue Ridge.

“Always Great”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

This is the one restaurant we visit every trip to the area. Only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the winter so it can get crowded. Menu is not too large but there are always a couple of specials. My favorite is the spinach and ricotta filled crepes. Delicious and smaller than the lasagne so there is still room for dessert. This time I had the lasagne, which was delicious, but took half of it home so I could still have the tiramisu. The chocolate cake is also very good.

“Loved it!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

This was our first visit to Cucina Rustica. We have a home in the area. We will definitely be returning! The service was exceptional. We asked a lot of questions, and were more than satisfied with her recommendations. The bread and salad were delicious. We had the grouper piccata and the chicken parm. We were both excited to share. Be sure to save room for dessert and a cappuccino!
