On our return journey to our Ontario home from our Florida RV Park we ran into unbelievable heavy traffic that took hours off our usual timing and we ended up in Marietta, Georgia at the time when we usually get to southern Tenn. It was 7pm and we had to grab any motel that was available and very few were. So we went to this Days Inn that was located in a very questionable part of Marietta right next door to what we found out after booking into the motel was a teen hangout games business. There was a lot of action going on there and we were concerned if some of it would spill over onto the motel property. We book in and noticed right away that the carpeting and furniture in the lobby was way over due for a change but we decided to go up to our 3rd floor room in the one and only elevator which had trash on the floor of the unit. The hallway carpeting was filthy and worn and there was a heavy reeking odor that we thought was probably due to someone cooking in their room. This was possible because there was a couple of guys cooking chickens out on the parking lot (????) When we headed to our room we noticed that a door to the outside located at the end of the 3rd floor hallway was being held open because someone had lodged a towel in the door jam to prevent it from closing and locking. We reported this to the front desk and told them we had removed the towel because we all knew why this was being done to allow other people to enter the building without the managements knowledge. This made us feel a bit on edge as well as a few other people staying here. There were some young teen boys roaming the halls which also made us uncomfortable. Once into the room we noticed right away that the floor in the tiny bathroom looked like it needed a good cleaning. The carpeting was old, worn, dirty and stained. The one upholstered chair was in ragged condition and very dirty. We checked the mattress as we always do at every motel/hotel we stay at for possible bedbug problems. We found none of that but the seams of the mattress was dirty with lots of black specks. The furniture was all well worn, the microwave looked to be an antique with dials and the TV was about 19" and one of the old style with very few channels. We made it through the night without any problems and then went down for the complimentary breakfast. Talk about a small area and very limited counter space to prepare. There was only the person behind the desk to look after the needs of the guests which were many. The toasters were junk, there was no bread, the counter space was so restricted that items has to be placed on a shelf where rather short folks could not reach. One of the worst places we had ever stayed. I say one of the worst but perhaps not the worst as we have seen some real gems. Why did we agree to stay here if it was so bad you might ask? Well at past 7:00pm it would have been very difficult to find another available place. Believe me there were so many people on the highway that night that every empty room would have been filled.
