“Beautiful inn great local”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

My husband and I spent two days here, we found the staff warm and welcoming and the inn was absolutely gorgeous. Bed was comfy, room clean and inn was picture perfect. Great location, within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Highly recommend.

In a world where elegance and service are sorely lacking, The James Madison Inn delivers! Everything was top-notch from reservations to check-in, personnel, the room, etc. The attention to detail is amazing. Even a proper thank you note from Inn sent to my home address. While there are no coffee "fixins" in room, they were graciously brought to my room. Very elegant, too.
My only slight complaint is lack adequate lighting for reading in bed. But, when I mentioned it on check-out, personnel appeared to "register" the problem.
It isn't inexpensive, but worth every penny.

Room Tip: I used the handicapped room, as it was the only available. If you can get room on back, do because...

If you are taking the Antebellum Trail, this is THE place to stay. Room was very spacious, with fireplace, balcony and all the amenities you would expect in a fine hotel. Beds were exceptional, right down to the pressed sheets. After seeing all the small towns on the Trail, we would recommend this inn to everyone. Madison was the best town on the trail.

Room Tip: If noise bothers you, ask to stay on the opposite side of the "park" side.

The James Madison Inn is a lovely boutique hotel/B&B; interior with saved wood from some grand old homes. Our room had a nice sitting area with comfy chairs in front of a fireplace. Great location, within walking distance of restaurants (227 just footsteps away), huge antique emporium and a walking park across the street. Breakfast "buffet" included in a nice large room on a lower level. Besides the ambiance, the hotel has the nicest, most helpful and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Request a room on the parking lot side, and not the park view as the latter is noisy thoughout the n...

I wanted to take in a little Southern history so was looking for somewhere to stay along the Antebellum trail. I chose Madison primarily because the James Madison Inn looked so interesting. I was not disappointed! First, the building itself is beautiful. The room was just amazing - a gas fireplace, sitting chairs, large bathroom with double sinks, a daybed and a king bed with fantastic linens and pillows. We even had a private balcony. The breakfast area is a cozy room with individual tables and a fireplace. Breakfast was delicious, highlighted by homemade quiche. However, the real charm of this place is the feel. Everyone is so hospitable and gracious and anxious to please. It has the feel of a small inn yet the privacy of a larger hotel. I never felt like someone was watching my every move (which is how I sometimes feel in a small inn) yet whenever I needed something there was always someone there to accomodate me. It's within walking distance to plenty of restaurants as well, and Madison is a great little sightseeing town. All in all the James Madison Inn is one of the best places I've ever stayed, if not THE best. If I'm ever even close to the area I'd go out of my way to stay here again. Both the inn and the people who staff it are worth the trip.

Room Tip: Rooms that are "park side" actually face a rather busy street. We stayed "market side...

Stayed here for a few days ,it is a beautiful hotel, lovely decor .I think there are about 20 guest rooms. The room was a nice size , very clean ,bed was very comfortable ,french door opens onto a balcony with a small table & chairs .Breakfast is included in a nice large dining area.most of all the staff were extremely nice & accommodating.I found it to be very quiet (and the hotel was fully booked)even though a couple of people mentioned hearing the train whistle early morning.Madison was a lovely town. Also there was a lovely park across the street & walk out the back door a few steps to have a nice dinner at Town 220. I will stay here again if I get a chance to go to south Georgia again.
