Farmhouse Inn
Ranked #5 of 7 Madison B&B and Inns
Reviewed March 17, 2013

The farmhouse in is a great place to stay and offers way more than just bed and breakfast. All rooms are somewhat unique, clean and come with really good friendly service. The inn is placed on a large farm property. We had an extremely great family time walking the trails, sitting at the lake, swinging the tire swing, gazing with the animals, driving the golf cart and checking out the garden. One could easily spend a couple of days just on the property. All facilities are well maintained. Very recommendable overall.

My wife (Becky) and I stayed for a weekend in March of 2013, and loved every minute of it. We had the best greeting that we've ever gotten at a B&B, when Mimi (the collie) met us in the drive with a wagging tail and much love.

Ellis and Crystal are very gracious hosts, eager to show us where to go around the farm, woods, riverside and in town (Madison). The accommodations were perfect (we stayed in the Meadow Garden room, and had a great view of the farm's animals while relaxing and reading) and the food was terrific. If you love birdwatching, you cannot find a better place; and the same goes if you are a gardener. Honestly, I can't say enough about the ambiance, hospitality and dishes.

We will be back!
Ed and Becky

Room Tip: Meadow Garden room is extra-large, with a picture window; it is the only room with an adjoining door...

We were invited to stay at the Farmhouse as part of a wedding celebration and are SO glad we didn't opt to stay at hotel. Everything about this property is first class and so well thought out! The grounds are immaculate with lots to do including a lake for fishing, signed walking trails, a tire swing...and, of course, farm animals! And breakfast! Wonderful food and plenty of it, much of it home grown in their gorgeous garden that begs to be toured.!
Our room (the hay loft) was beautiful and well appointed.
Madison, itself, is a beautiful antebellum town with friendly residents...to both people and pets!

We took a quick trip to the Athens area and decided to drive the Antebellum Trail on the way back home, so we stopped in Madison for the evening. We had found the Farmhouse Inn prior to leaving and had booked a one-night stay. It was definitely a highlight of the trip! We stayed in the Hay Loft, which was roomy, comfy, very clean, and had beautiful natural light. I loved the whole experience - the chickens, goats, two very friendly turkeys, the night sky, breakfast, the amazing garden, the innkeepers, all of it. Being a city kid, I got a huge kick out of the chickens and now I hope to have some one day. It was also fun to look at the books/magazines of weddings at the farm; what a wonderful location! I would love to go back!

The warmth and comfort of the Farmhouse Inn and the innkeepers is exceptional. The surroundings, the rooms, the breakfast all beg for a repeat visit..... soon! The Johnsons "were made" for hospitality and innkeeping. We are thankful for our time there. Don't miss it!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful.

My husband and I stayed here for two days while we "did" Madison. I thought shopping would be the highlight of the trip, but it was the farm. I wanted a place my husband would enjoy after traipsing through the stores and this was perfect. From walking the trails to the meadow and the river, to watching the 100 chickens scurrying, and the bluebirds near the terrace, it was all wonderful. The decor is just right for a farm, the bed very comfortable, and the fresh egg breakfasts delicious. We will be going back.

Room Tip: The Hayloft offers a sunrise and sunset view.

During a trip last weekend to Madison, Georgia, my girlfriend and I stayed at the James Madison Inn in downtown Madison and it was lovely for the most part, but the breakfast was a bit of a let-down. After hearing how great the breakfast was at the Farmhouse Inn at Hundred Acre Farm, we decided to swing by there and ask if they could accomodate us the next morning. Wow, were we glad we did.

The Farmhouse Inn is a beautiful piece of property with a working farm and substantial vegetable garden and orchard, which they use to supply the breakfast side of this B&B. The barnyard is placed far enough away from the residence so guests aren't woken by the chickens, but they produce the kind of eggs us cityfolk dream of. The owners of the farm were lovely and gave us a tour of the gardens and offered to let us walk around the property and even fish in the lake. And the breakfast was amazing: peach and pecan bread pudding, with homegrown peaches and pecans(!), local sausage and homemade rosemary & sourcream biscuits.

We will definitely be staying there next time we're in Madison!
