This was our second visit to Sushi Master Currambine. First time food was good. Second time, food was ok, nothing special, just adequate. Service was random and busy, but it was half price Tuesday night for the Sushi Train - we ordered from the menu at full price. We ordered a glass of white wine each. When the wine arrived at our table we complained about the amount of wine in the glass being very small. The waiter said it was a standard size of 150ml. Still not convinced, we asked him how he was measuring and his reply was that he uses a "shot" glass to measure each serve. Shot glasses are around 60-70mls which is what we thought it looked like as it was only a third of a regular 200ml glass. At $8 per glass it is already expensive. We refused to pay for the wine.

We dined here today. We arrived at 2:20pm & sat at the sushi train. We were given menus & told we had 10 mins until the kitchen closed so had to order straight away. I questioned their trading hours which stated they closed at 3pm. U was advised the kitchen closes at 2:30 to clean & prepare for evening trade. We declined to order from the kitchen & just ate from the train. It is very basic fare. Far from close to authentic. They love their mayo for each plate that had mayo was slapped on so thick, you couldn't taste the chicken or veg. Bloody awful. We also had a pot of Japanese tea, which didn't taste like the tea I'd had at previous Japanese restaurants.

To the uninitiated, if you don't know what each plate is, you're on your own & have to guess. Unless staff are passing, which they weren't, you had no hope.

To put the icing on the cake, my last plate of Sushi had a bug of some sort sitting on it. I couldn't put it back as that would be so unethical & the staff weren't in earshot, so I had to yell (in a lowered voice) to get the staffs attention & advise of such. Yuk, yuk & yuk again. Will never return. Always vowed we wouldn't try it as most days when I pass to do my grocery shopping in the same centre, the staff are sitting out the front smoking. How gross can you get.
Drive to Joondalup to Mikashi for the best authentic (as you can get) Japanese in the northern suburbs.

We had planned on dining elsewhere but when we walked past this place the girl smiled at us in such a friendly way that we changed our minds there and then! We had previously seen the menu and thought it was a bit restricted but there are heaps more options than the menu suggests. You can choose to sit at a table, sit at the teppanyaki or the sushi train. We opted for the sushi train this time and shared several dishes and a pot of green tea - all of which were really good. Any questions as to what was what are answered by the friendly staff. We will definitely be coming back to try more :)
