Bare Bulb is my go-to place for coffee, lunch and gelato. We live a mile away so it is handy for us. As others have mentioned, a 10 screen movie theater and a pizza place are steps away.
The Bare Bulb offers specials M - F during lunch. They post the weekly menu on their Facebook page so you can plan your week. The chicken salad is very good.
There is a mission focus to the business. They do many worthwhile things for the community using volunteers to support their efforts. As their website states, "The idea behind Bare Bulb Coffee is to simple: "Why not use a business to do something good for the world?"
There is a mixture of hightop tables, 4 top tables, an 8-top, 2 sofas, and a kiddie table. On an average day, you will find students around the big table studying or a lunch group, computer users using the electric plugs against the back wall, mothers with kids around the kiddie table, seniors coming for lunch or a snack, and friends having a chat over coffee.
The coffee and tea menu is extensive with many specials and combinations of syrups to create the ultimate hot or cold drink. They serve fair-trade coffee. The gelato is very good and is a bargain at a generous scoop for $1.50.
Besides the good food, pastries, and coffee or tea, there is game night, open mic, a book club, and trivia night. They even offer a fellowship time on Sunday night.
This is the gathering spot for many groups now and is a destination spot for the locals. They just added additional seating out front so you can relax outdoors. For those folks on the run, there is a drive through window.
Tip: Sconces are half-price after 2 p.m. and you will get a free coffee after your frequent user card fills up.
