“Interesting”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

This was an interesting addition to our trip since we stayed in the B&B next door. It was interesting to see what a successful plantation was made up of and see the family history.

“Good example of plantation days”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

We enjoyed walking the grounds, viewing the homes and equipment of this self-sufficient cotton plantation. Everything is well maintained and you will get a very good idea of what life was like before electricity, indoor plumbing, automation, computers, etc. This family did everything for themselves and it's really an amazing commentary on the endurance, ingenuity and abilities of people living in the 1800s.

“A Piece of History”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

Perfect for a half day visit. The "tour" consists of a 1/2 mile loop that takes you around the various plantation homes, privies, barn, and "industry" building such as the sawmill, kettle building, cotton gin, blacksmith shop, etc. The history behind the plantation is very interesting. The buildings are kept in excellent condition which provides the visitor a very vivid image of life during the plantation years.

I'd recommend planning a visit when the plantation is "in action". When demonstrations are scheduled, all the buildings come to life which provides an awesome visual for the whole family.

Cool place. Teach your kids about life in the South in the 1800's. You"ll probably learn something too. Reasonable admission well worth it.
