very educational price is great had a great day. lady feed the turtle for the girls and they enjoyed that.also has a tank with a gator that has a hole that you can look up very close at the gators.my daughter is a ga bull dog fan but she kissed a gator that day
The nature center itself has some exhibits and can be viewed in less than 30 minutes. Be sure to visit the separate building that houses the latest shark. What I like best about Tidelands is there other activities. Their 3 hour kayaking tour is so fun I have taken it 4 times. In addition, they sponsor nature walks 4 times a week at various places on the island. The guides are interesting and informative. The tour takes 60-90 minutes.
This is my grandchildren's favorite place on Jekyll Island! They call it the critter center. It is hands on learning in an inviting way. The staff always makes sure to answer any questions and my grandchildren have tons of them!
We went almost at closing time. Current price was $4 a person and they said we could stay as long as we wanted. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. There were a few touch tanks. I saw a previous reviewer wrote that the shark was not there-a staff person pointed it out. It was a very small female shark and she has no teeth. We spent about 45 minutes and it was a nice way to beat the heat. We would return. We got some great photos, too.
