The first day we arrived on Jekyll Island we went to the tip of driftwood beach, towards the bay and it was overcrowded, dirty, and not what I expected. The next day is when we found the gem of the beach. More isolated, clean and a lot of wildlife. Had so much fun and it was so relaxing! Just make sure you check the tide schedule :)

This beach is full of fallen trees, not driftwood, and chunks of concrete to stop erosion. We were bitten to pieces by insects. Take bug spray! We did get some interesting photos. However, it is not as the name implies. I would not go with small children, elderly or anyone with trouble walking as you have to literally climb over tree trunks. Luckily it was free, and might be worth a stop if you are in average health since their is little to do on the island.

I thought there would be so much MORE driftwood. What is was was a nice walk on an uncrowded beach with some wood here and there. We got some cute pictures. My kids really liked it because they found a dead stingray washed up on the beach -- too cool in their opinion.

Great for a day on the beach as well as a wonderful stroll - for miles and miles. Lovely sand, shallow waters and despite being the Atlantic, quite warm.

While maybe not the most pristine "beach" in the world the driftwood along this beach offers some great photo's, views of St Simon Island, a fishing pier and boat traffic in between the islands. A short walk from the parking lot will have you on the beach and while I was there it seemed as iff the sand was moving there where so many little crabs who would dart about when you got close.
