“Perfect family vacation”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

This is our second year going to the Club Hotel, and again, had an expectacular time!.
My husband daughter and I, love how quiet, clean, beautiful and charming it is. No loud college kid's music, no fast driving car...just a gorgeous laid back place, where you can have fun as a family.
We love riding bikes around the resort, visiting the Turtle Center, going for a carriage ride and just walking around this peaceful place.
The resort has a private pavillion at the beach where you can get umbrellas, food and drinks.
The beach is beautiful, and we are lucky enough to have a sandbank every time, which keeps our daughter so entertained!. She has the best time finding seashells, hermit crabs, sand dollars and horse shoe crabs!!.
The water is warm and the gentle small waves, are great for the little ones.
We love having breakfast at the Great Ballroom, dinner at Latitude 31, inside the resort, and enjoy some live music by the pier.
The staff is very nice, they go above and beyond the call of service. Mike and Michael (valet attendants) are sooo helpful!, they always have a big smile and are ready to make you happy and give you some advice.
I highly recommend this place. It has become our family tradition, and we look forward to our next trip.

*Did I mention how romantic this place is?, no I didn't!. Very romantic, and the perfect wedding location!.

The grounds of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel are worth the trip just to walk around. The buildings are lovingly restored and the gracious trees dripping with Spanish Moss are breath taking. The food at the restaurants was consistantly good but not inexpensive. Staff could not be better. For a guilty pleasure wander down the pier for the sunset and a pound of peel and eat locally caught shrimp.
Take the hotel shuttle to the beach or relax at the pool bar. Spring for lunch at Crane Cottage and enjoy the elegance of the building.

Room Tip: Rooms in the San Souci building are lovely.

Spent our 50th Anniversary here and the accomodations are outstanding. Staff very good and the valet service brought our bags directly to our room. The island has a ton of history and plenty to see and do.

Well, not quite a paradise but it comes close! We had a wonderful 4 night stay at this hotel at the end of May. The hotel is large and sprawling similar to some Scottish hotels in the highlands but this time with palm trees, so visitors from the UK will feel at home. The reception manager William was especially helpful and obliging especially when we wanted to change rooms (see room tips). We did not eat in the hotel other than having a snack breakfast at the coffee shop, try the bacon filled croissants, delicious. The main restaurant looked luxurious and appeared pricey so we chose to eat at nearby restaurants especially Latitude 51 (see review). We had a great time and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Choose a queen or king room as the double room tends to be too small. We made this mistake thinking...

What a beautiful property. We spent two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Of course, we did read a couple of books about the island before arriving which made it all the more interesting. This is where the top six wealthiest men in the world escaped to during the winter months in the days of JP Morgan, President Mc Kinley, William Rockefeller, Pulitzer, etc. This is where the Federal Reserve system was first conceived in a secret meeting. Read "The Creature From Jekyll Island" by G.E. Griffin or lighter reading would be "The Jekyl Island Club" by Brent Monahan.

This was at one time a very large cotton planation. All of the "cottages" of those important visitors still remain. We had a wonderful dinner in the dining room with the accpaniment of a classical piano music. "Church" attire required. As you sit in a white wooden rocker, on one of the several Club decks, you can enjoy watching a croquet game. Anyone can play but white clothing is required. There is a turtle rehabilitation center on the ground which was interesting. The small church has the most beautiful stained glass windows, one is a Tiffany. AND the sunset was spectacular. Better than any I have seen in Hawaii or elsewhere. Being from California I had never heard of this island off the coast of Georgia. What a wonderful experience. I highly recommend a visit.

Room Tip: Our room was in the annex, not the Club or one of the cottages. From our group of 49 travelers we t...

We came for a wedding and it was a gorgeous location. We had a beautiful balcony room looking out on the water. The wedding was really fun and well put together. It was nice that everything was in the same house as the guestrooms. The ceremony and reception too : )
The room itself I thought was really overpriced but it was still a really good time. It was nice to have a fireplace and windows that open wide with no screens...very southern!
I would come back if it was a bit less pricey.

This is quite a place. After visiting the nature center in the morning, we enjoyed lunch at this hotel.......having one of our favorite Southern dishes, shrimp and grits. It was delicious. The hostess and the waitress were excellent. The hostess told me a lot about the hotel. Later we took the tour of the various homes that had been owned by the millionaires. The island has quite a story.

Room Tip: We did not stay on Jekyll Island, but if we were to come again, we would choose this hotel.
