Driftwood definetly lived up to its stellar reviews and ranking. We stopped in on a Friday night at 6 and had to wait only 25 min. We couldn't believe the value given the nice setting and seafood type items on the menu for less than $14. The stuff flounder was amazing and the shrimp and grits was very good. The sides (fried okra, sweet potatoe casserole, grits, fries) were also very good. They also had a nice selection on the kid menu. Top it off with a $10 bottle of wine and I can't remember the last time I had such a dining experience that was worth double what we paid.

A decent choice in the limited options of Jekyll Island. Portion sizes were small, but the food tasted good. Shrimp were not as plump as the other places we went in the area. Sides were excellent. Cheese grits were top notch. Service was decent. Ambience was OK. They would have greatly benefited if this restaurant looked over the ocean rather than being set off it.

Everyone was bale to get something they liked and some nice appetizers too. My daughter and her grandmother killed a bottle of wine between the two of them. Service is prompt and food is basic "stick to your ribs" stuff. Nice for a change.

Everyone in my family had the grilled wild georgia shrimp petitie platter. The petitie platter has 10 medium sized shrimp on the plate. My husband and I both had the squash casserole and the sweet potato souffle. Delicious. Nice to find southern vegetables on the menu. My daughter had mashed potatoes with the potato peel (definetly not instant) and macaroni and cheese. Also very good sides.
In addition to the sides we had they offer boiled cabbage, collard greens, rice pilaf, french fries, etc.
We were too full for dessert. I would have loved to have tried the bread pudding, peach cobbler or the molten chocolate cake.
You need to get here early because it is very popular. We got there around 5 p.m. and had a 15 minute wait. Others who got there later had a longer wait. Wonderful meal for 3 people for less than $40.

Jekyll Island has few restaurants. At the Driftwood there is both a dining room and a bar with plenty of tables where one can enjoy the same fine menu. Or, as we do, sit at the bar, enjoy a drink, choose from the menu and meet interesting people. A bottle of wine is $10.00 and if you don't finish it they put it in a bag,and staple it closed and you can carry it out. The menu has choices to please everyone (including vegetarian and kids). The grilled shrimp, grits and cheese, and build your own hamburger are among the best. But there is meatloaf, potroast, steak and a variety of interesting "sides" typical of the region such a fried okra, delicious stuffed sweet collard greens, sweet souther slaw and yummy sweet ptato souffle to name just a few. They have both petitie and regular size servings for the entrees ($10.95 & 13.95). Among the appetizers, grilled WILD Georgia Shrimp, Fried Musrooms, and friend Green Tomatoes! The servers are friendly. The service is efficient and attentive/ We have never in the three years since it has been under new management (formerly Sadies) had a less than excellent meal at the Driftwood. Go early as they don't take reservations. But one can enjoy a drink at the bar until you are called to your table.
