Ranked #5 of 9 Hotels in Jekyll Island

We recently stayed at this hotel. As others have stated, the hotel is old, dated, grungy and rundown.
The location can't be beat - it is right on the beach. We got a suite on the 2nd floor and from the balcony, you could see the ocean & hear the surf. The beach itself is beautiful.

The room was awful - when you walk in, there are 2 very uncomfortable dble beds w/small lumpy pillows in the first room. This room overlooks the parking lot & is noisy because it's exterior. The room a/c unit is 6 inches from one of the beds, so if you like cold air blowing right on you when you sleep, you will enjoy it. We didn't like it, so had to shut it off. In the bedroom are an open closet area, cheap dresser and old t.v. Off that room is the galley-style kitchenette that has a mini frig, microwave, coffee maker, very small sink & 2 burner stove top. The kitchenette was sparsely supplied with some dishes, eating utensils and pots/pans. I think it would be hard to fix a meal in there.
Off that room is an old bathroom w/fiberglass tub/shower combo and then a sitting room w/dingy sofa and old t.v. Then a door to balcony and ocean view. The furniture on the balcony is plastic, wobbly and had never been cleaned from the looks of it.
The whole place, including carpet, ceiling tiles, bathroom were all dated & in need of updating & repairs.
While this place is rundown, the room had been cleaned and the main areas were cleaned regularly. The staff there is very friendly & helpful.
The continental breakfast was nice - they have a waffle station, different hot & cold cereals, fresh fruit, canned juices, yogurt, muffins/danish, coffee & tea. There were workers there keeping everything filled & cleaning tables. The breakfast room overlooks the pools & ocean, so that is wonderful.
The smoke alarm started chirping around 6 a.m. (low battery?) and I reported it at check-out and they made a note of it. I think that even though this place is old & grungy, they are cleaning it on a regular basis and trying to maintain it as is.
If you stay there for the view, and don't mind rustic surroundings, then you'll enjoy this place. Just know this going into it. My preference is very clean, updated, more upscale, so this just wasn't my style.

Dear Guest,

We are sorry to learn that our facility was not up to your standards. We do not claim to be a new hotel, but we do strive to be the best Days Inn & Suites that we can be. Our previous awards are Chairman's Awards for quality, and Executive Housekeeper of the Year (out of 1800 Days Inn's).

Our hotel was originally built in 60's, but our company bought it in 1998 and closed it for a year to put more than 4 million into a complete renovation. Since our reopening in 1999, we have continued to upgrade as needed, by replacing carpets, bedding to new pillow top mattresses, currently replacing 27" televisions to 32" flat screens, last year we upgraded our pool area with two brand new pools (one heated in the winter), a hot tub and kiddy pool, added large funbrellas to our pool areas for addtional shade, upgraded our lobby with new furniture, a beautiful hand painted 8' by 85' murral, a 90 gallon salt water aquarium, and two complimentary computers and printers for the guest use.

We do thank you for giving us a try and we do know that we are not suitable for everyone, but we do strive to offer the best value, the best in customer service with clean and comfortable accommodations that would appeal to most guests looking for a relaxing atmosphere while on beautiful Jekyll Island!

Sincerely,

The Days Inn & Suites
Management Team

The place is right on the beach, so you can't beat the location. Additionally, it is very quiet, peaceful, relaxing and perfect for families. The hotel was clean, but the rooms are so very old and just need a complete renovation. The breakfast area is beautiful overlooking the ocean and the breakfast iself was perfectly adequate- waffles, cereal, bagels, donuts, etc. There were some minor annoyances. The first night we called the front desk to request a crib and had to call back 4 times as the front desk person said he would have to wait until his replacement showed up. Well, he just left and I eventually had to go to the front desk myself to pick it up. Once received, it had some nasty stains on the mat, so we didn't use it. In the end, we had a good time on Jekyll Island and there aren't a whole lot of options in terms of hotels. However, in hindsight, I probably would have spent a little extra and stayed at the brand new Hampton Inn and Suites down the road which is also oceanfront. The question is whether you want to spend a little more money. I would have felt a little more comfortable in a newer place/nicer room.

I must say that after our stay at the Days Inn we will definetly come back again. The rooms are clean the Ocean view rooms offer a spectacular view of the ocean. There are two seperate but clean pools and although the rooms arent the most luxurious they are very comfortable. The people here are very friendly and it feels like you are vacationing some where far away although for us it was still within the state in which we live. The only thing I wish they offered more of is a variety of breakfast items such as maybe a hot bar. Overall I would say this is a great place to get a little R&R with a wonderful view of the beach.

Our room was very clean and I was very pleased with houskeeping. This hotel is an older one and definitely needs some upgrades and at least one nicer staff member. The lady who checked us in treated us as an imposition which did not sit well after driving 5.5 hours in the pouring rain. My bed was incredibly uncomfortable; it was lumpy and hard and that did not sit well with me either. The next morning I asked the front desk attendant for a matress topper of some kind and was told they didn't have anything like that. I felt the hotel's online advertising is very misleading. It boasts "Georgia's award-winning oceanfront hotel". I honestly cannot think of one reason this hotel would win any award and the hotel is not nearly as impressive in person as the photos on the website depict. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel is on the beach with 2 pools, 1 heated. The rooms are small, with a door to the toilet and shower, and the wash basin, clothing rail, microwave, refrigerator, beds and tv all in 1 room. We had oceanview ground floor, which had 2 chairs and table outside. You couldn't see the ocean as it was over a dune, but it was within a 2 minute walk. The beach is long and at low tide it is a long way out. When we went to the beach, it was just mud. Awful mud that stuck on the bottom of your feet. The breakfast was waffles (stand in long line), fresh fruit, cereal, bagels, muffins, and juice and coffee. Nothing to rave about, best thing is it was free.

This hotel is in an excellent location, with direct access to the beach, and their price is remarkably low considering that Jekyll Island is generally for the well-heeled. The rooms are only average, but the Ocean view is excellent. Breakfast is served in a large view room, and breakfast is decent.

There's nothing fancy about their basic 2 double bed rooms, but it is extremly clean. The bathroom only has the tub/shower combo and toilet, and then there's a single sink in the actual room area. I would've preferred a bathroom with the sink in it, but again, it was SO CLEAN! :) They did provide a small fridge, microwave, and coffee pot with coffee. The beds were rock hard. I can sleep anywhere, but this truly killed my back the first night. I got the wild idea to ask the next night if they had an egg crate or anything, and they gave me a wonderfully thick feather topper. It helped ease the comfort, but we only got one and my hubby & son had to suffer again. I read other reviews that some rooms have new mattresses. You might want to ask.

They have 2 pools and one is heated. We loved that, as well as the hot tub. Felt great in 75 degree weather. It was clean and large enough that you're not piled up on one another.

The continental breakfast was wonderful. They had a large selection of breads, pastries, cereals, fruits, yogurts, juices, and even waffles you can make yourself. The breakfast room is "in the round on the second floor?" and gives you a gorgeous view of the ocean and the sun comes up.

Bicycle, chasses, trike rentals are available right on site. The staff was super friendly and we had a wonderful time!! Perfect location if you can just get a comfy bed!! :)
