This is a wonderful place to go by yourself, with friends or family. The gardens, trails (bike, walking, horse) animals, reptile room, barn yard, blacksmith shop, chapel, educational programs are all worth the trip and experience.

We took our granddaughters for a picnic at this wonderful and educational nature center. Seeing and reading about the wildlife cared for here was a perfect enjoyable outing for our little ones. We went at our own pace and stopped for a picnic at one of the tables facing the pond. There are no admission fees, but donations are welcome. We gladly gave a donation. We will go back to see the gardens another time.

Dauset Trails is an okay place to go when you're broke and your kids are bored. It's free, but it can be really depressing to see how sad the animals are. Some of them very clearly have earmites, and nothing has been done to treat them in the several years I've been going there. The enclosures are too small and all the animals look terribly bored and sad. There are virtually no enrichment activities for them. Kids don't notice any of that, though. They get worn out running from animal to animal, and they learn about them by reading the signs on the enclosures. There is a nice picnic area by the pond, and you can watch the ducks and turtles while you eat. There is even a good sized snapping turtle that will come close enough to eat crackers and things you toss to it.

I visited Dauset for the off road bike trails. This is some of the best single trak mountain biking in Georgia. They also have a nature center and trails. Its not far from High Falls and Indian Springs which hve camping and lots to do for families. Check out their website for more information. Just google Dauset Trails Georgia.

Dauset Trails is an educational and relaxing place to spend a half-day. You are able to get really up-close and personal with lots of creatures native to the southeast. I love that it does not feel zoo-like at all. If you like animals, and are nearby, you should definitely give it a look.
