Awesome place to stay while riding through Georgia! Ms. Jane took us in and made us feel welcome! The rooms, breakfast and beds were fantastic! Breakfast in the morning made by Chef Jarome was off the charts... We (my brothers and I) were traveling up to see a friend play in Homerville and couldn't have stumbled on a better place to stay. I will be returning again real soon with my wife! She'll love it! Ms. Jane thank you for taking in us road wary bikers and treating us like family, we enjoyed the southern hospitality and the entire stay at your B&B

If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place.
Despite having to be there for work it is still worth it.

Even though a little town still has great places to eat after having breakfast at The Helmstead.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. The "KING's ROOM" is by far the best. Includes a parlor room f...

What a wonderful time I had staying with Ms Jane. She is the epitome of southern hospitality. It felt like I was staying with family. There is a special comfort pillow on each bed that was the cause of me oversleeping one morning. I stayed in the Queen room with its big comfy chairs and private bath. Mr Jerome helps to make the place homey and keeps everything running. I hope to be back and highly recommend this b&b especially if you've never stayed in one before.

The bedrooms are at the top of stairs. There is a pool and hot tub. The breakfast was a delicious egg casserole on 2 of the days and always included fruit.

Room Tip: If you are a family you may want the connecting king and duke room's that have a sitting room wi...

Down in the little south Georgia town of Homerville, there is a lovely house and a delightful Southern woman who put the "home" in "Homerville." The Helmstead Bed and Breakfast is known far and wide for its beauty, comfort and graciousness---all at affordable prices! Once the home of the chatelaine herself, Jane Helms, this establishment offers a welcoming shelter for today's visitors. Meeting Jane is worth the trip. The epitome of charm, Jane is as southern as sweet potato pie but lots more fun! Full of local lore and intriguing stories, Jane is respectful of your solitude but ever willing to answer your questions and help you enjoy your stay. State Volunteer of the Year, Jane loves her town, her home and her guests. The rooms are spotlessly clean and inviting and the breakfast is delicious and satisfying. Jane is assisted by her staff, Miss Mary and Jerome, and they truly are "the staff of life." I treasure my times spent at the Helmstead. I am not a member of the family, but I wish I were. Do yourself a favor---come often and stay long!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely and comfortable. There is not a finess center as such, but a pool and a ho...

The Helmstead is a great Bed and Breakfast. The owner, Miss Jane, makes you feel like family from the minute you arrive. The historic brick house itself is amazing and beautifully furnished, and each room has its own character. Wifi and cable TV are available in each room. Breakfast was delicious and the staff is friendly. The town of Homerville is a neat little community that has preserved its downtown area and train depot. At a nightly price of only $90, the Helmstead is great for anyone needing a place to sleep while traveling across southern Georgia or for anyone seeking a great B&B experience.

After speaking with 'Miss Jane', the owner of The Helmstead B&B, prior to our trip, we knew we had to stay there. Her southern charm was simply too much for us not to stay there. Our rooms were lovely, breakfast was wonderful and 'Miss Jane' regaled us with local history, both hers and the area's.

Room Tip: There's no bad room in the house.

My husband stayed at the Helmstead the end of August, 2012 to attend a funeral service for his high school friend. He was so impressed by the rooms, service, hospitality that he received while staying there, he told me he might take me up there just to stay there and have that experience. Ms. Jane was such a fine "lady", Mary and Jerome were there to meet your every need. This was his best experience at any Bed & Breakfast.
