Owner description: Quietly tucked away in the North Georgia mountains, sits a rare and special treasure. A botanical paradise fairly bursting with dogwoods, tulip magnolias, native azaleas, wild flowers, trillium, and of course, rhododendron. There are over 400 varieties of rhododendron - 3,000 plants in all. Welcome to the Hamilton Gardens, a truly enchanted spot, boasting the largest collection of rhododendron in the state of Georgia. Stroll tranquil pine bark trails as they wind through lush foliage. Drink in the stunning views of Lake Chatuge and breathtaking countryside, including the majestic rise of Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest peak.

You can definitely get a cup of tea and sit for hours on one of the benches enjoying the sound of water from the lake hitting at the shore

“Do you like Rhododendruns?”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

In the Spring, the Rhododendrun Gardens are spectacular. We make the trip there annually, and if we have to miss a year, it doesn't seem as though we've experienced Spring at all!

“Color Unfolded”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

What a nice afternoon! I went by myself and enjoted the beauty of the blooming rododendrums. I went in early May and just missed the peak of the color, but it was still beautiful. The paths wonder through beautiful gardens and down along Lake Chatuge. Don't miss this Sprig event.

This has been put together exceptionally well for Hiawassee. The axaleas and rododendron are beautiful now. It's so peaceful to walk the pathways.

“Very beautiful”
Reviewed April 5, 2012

We visited a week before the official opening and were generously allowed to tour because the dogwood and azaleas were at their peak while the rhododendrons were just starting to bloom. The plant material and walking trails were beautiful. The donation and "in memory of" signage was distracting but the trails were easy to walk and everyone would enjoy the beautiful plants and views of the lake.
