Overall - very nice stay. There's no other hotel in Helen that comes close. Furnishings were newer, nice, and clean. Hotel staff was pleasant. Location / parking were easy. Overall - best hotel in Helen.

Upon arrival we found this place to be by the river, and up on columns with parking under the building. The building is shaped like a "T" with the base being the desk and the top of the "T" facing the river. Not what I'd consider a river view worth paying extra for, which I did. The only access to the building are stairs, and the smallest elevator ever, at the base of the "T". There are stairs at the top ends of the building, but only for exit. The elevator made things interesting when everyone was trying to leave with luggage and the poor cleaning staff with their carts are trying to use the same elevator. Allow ample time for departure. We arrived at check-in time, but our room was not ready. A common problem here it seems. Staff was never apologetic, but not rude either. When we got to our room, it was acceptable. Only thing not working was the bathroom fan. No big deal to me. The next morning we noticed mold / mildew in the shower on the roof that had been there a while. During some quiet time in the bathroom, with no fan, I could hear water dripping from the room above occasionally when they used the bathroom. Probably the source of the mold. I told the person at the desk and they said that they wold have maintenance look at it. Again, no apology, or anything close. First morning breakfast, no decaf. No food. Many folks were at the kitchen door asking for food and supplies. Person working was obviously overwhelmed because, in my opinion, they were told to pinch pennies. There was food brought out a couple of times, but very small amounts that were gone in seconds. I did get a slice of toast that morning. Day 2, no decaf again. I was told that it was brewing, but 30 min. later, none. My wife got the last omelette and sausage which were both burnt beyond recognition and inedible. As we sat, the cook brought out more food, but in such small portions that by the time you got out of your chair and in line, the food was gone again. Simply unacceptable. Back to the room to get our luggage and spend 15 min. trying to get to the bottom floor. Every time the elevator passed our floor and opened, it was full. And full means two people, or one maid and cart. Finally, on the way out, one more try........no decaf. One note to the manager, if you really cared, you'd be giving personal responses instead of those canned, cookie cutter responses. We travel here often, but will not stay here despite being HH members.

Room Tip: Don't pay for river view.

Was very disappointed with the check in service and the breakfast. I offered an upgrade to a River View room and the only view we had was a parking lot. The river was somewhere off into the distance. Extremely miss leading!

My favorite hotel in Helen GA. Friendly, clean and convenient - love it. We travel to Helen GA frequently and have stayed at this hotel a few times. We stayed at another hotel in Helen once and were disappointed. We will not make that mistake again. The Hampton has a perfect location for walking anywhere is Helen, staff is friendly and rooms are clean. Lobby is cozy and peaceful. Breakfast was good.

If you're ever in the Helen, North Carolina, area stay at this Hampton Inn. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations and overall Inn. Located on a side street away from the hustle bustle, it's quaint and quiet.

Let me start by saying that the standards for lodging in Helen are pretty low. The hotels are outdated and rundown and that's just the way it is. So I was happy to find this updated, clean Hampton Inn. It's 2 blocks off Main Street, so everything is in walking distance. The bed and pillows were super comfy, the wifi was good, the employees were friendly, and our room had a fireplace and a balcony with a view of the river. The downside is that there was a tile missing from the wall outside our bathroom, the toilet only flushed sometimes, and the walls were seemingly made of tissue paper, as we could hear every footstep and sneeze of the people next door. Breakfast was also lacking, even for a typical hotel breakfast - no eggs and no waffle batter even though the two waffle irons were plugged in and ready to go. Despite those issues, I would definitely stay here again because this is the best place I've ever stayed in Helen.

We stayed at this Hampton a few days ago. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. We ended up with a problem with our room -- the lady at the front desk, came up right away, and was able to fix the problem -- she was pleasant and knowledgeable. The best part of our trip to Helen, was this hotel and one of the local restaurants.
