My family and I stayed at the Unicoi State Park Lodge in a 2 BR Barrel cottage. More than what we expected ! The cottage was so spacious for 2 families with children. Full kitchen, living room with fire place, upstairs bedrooms and a porch outside overlooking the lake. So Peaceful! Heads up, NO TV ! The location was convenient to Helen Georgia where we spent most of our days. Anna Ruby Falls was Breathtaking and not too far away. This place was perfect. We will stay here again, longer though.

I stayed at this lodge for a conference, so the cost of the room was already paid for.

The room was small and in fair condition. There are common areas in the center of each building that serve as a nice area to relax, however it can be annoying if people are out there making noise while you are trying to sleep. The common areas include couches, chairs, a t.v. and fireplace. There are also outdoor common areas with chairs and tables.

The lodge itself is in fair condition, but it does show signs of age. The restaurant is typical southern buffet, nothing exceptional, but a great variety of fried foods.

Overall, I think this is an acceptable place to stay, however for the current prices they are charging, I believe you could find a better deal closer to Helen. If you are interested in being close to the natural wonders of the Appalachians, perhaps Unicoi is a good choice for you. There are trails on site, as well as the lake, beach, and access to Anna Ruby Falls.

I am bringing the family back to Unicoi for camping, but I would not pay to stay at the lodge.

Property is very dated. The entire lodge B is musty inside, and smells old. The "game room" should not even be listed in the property details. There are three items in the "game room". First, there is ONE pinball machine, with one fully functional flipper. Next, there is an air hockey machine with no puck. Last, there is a pool table, that only has 8 balls, and no cue ball. All the cue sticks except 1 have no tips. Sadly, they were more than happy to give me change to play in the "game room" without pointing out that nothing in there works.

If you want to stay at a state park lodge, try Amicolola Falls. Their Lodge is beautiful. If you are staying at Unicoi, stay in a cabin. The lodge is not nearly worth the price. There are more affordable hotels in Helen that are nicer.

My wife and I stayed in the lodge for a weekend. The room came with two double beds, which we found very romantic. This turned out not to be a problem because something my wife ate at the buffet on Friday night made her so sick to her stomach that romance was not on her mind that weekend. The bathroom was small. And they've taken the concept of low-flow shower and sink faucets to a new level. The lodge buildings (at least the one we were in, C) have a "living room" in them with a sofas, chairs, tables, etc. Both nights there was a collection of old rednecks in this room talking (yelling really) until about 1:00am. On the upside, the rooms were reasonably clean, the beds were reasonably comfortable, and although the decor was dated and worn, everything worked. But for $115/night, I expected more.

My husband and I, along with our two dogs, stayed three nights in Barrel Cottage A1. The overall experience was positive. The cottage was much larger than expected, and we had a great view of the lake. It was rustic, but for the price (around $80/night), you can't be too picky. Our favorite features of the cabin were the deck overlooking the lake and the wood burning stove in the living room. We also appreciated having a full kitchen and refrigerator. The park grounds were beautiful and the trails were well maintained.
Now for the cons: The bed was uncomfortable. There's no shower, and you can't sit up in the bathtub because it's butted up against the curved ceiling. The biggest negative for my husband was not having a TV. I didn't really care when I made the reservation since we planned to spend most of our time outdoors, but unfortunately it rained all day Sunday.

This was a great vacation place for our family. We are a family of 6 and decided to stay in a lodge room. It was not a condo, but it was still big enough. There was an additional loft area with a ladder that included two twin beds upstairs, along with the two double beds and bathroom. Next time we may try one of the cottages. But for the price@100 nite...you couldn't beat the cleanliness, daily housekeeping staff, and very comfortable beds! The front desk was very eager to help and provided great info. The dining area was our favorite meals in Helen. It was an all you could eat buffet with a great price. Breakfast was fresh fruit, bisc n gravy, sausage, eggs, bacon, waffles, french toast, etc. Adults 6.95, kids 4-11 half price, age 4 and under free...and it included drinks! Don't miss dinner! The deserts are great...the trout, roast beef...man, i wish i had a plate now. The wait staff were definatley on their toes. I don't think our glasses got dry once. The park has a lot of things to do. The beach has real sand and it is clean. Anna Ruby Falls was gorgeous and made for great family time with a picnic. Several kids play areas, porch swings, wide open spaces, tennis courts, fishing holes, canoes/padel boats available for rent on lake...like $6 per hour. Highly recommend staying here!

My room was typical of many hotels, although a bit on the small side. The bathroom was definitely small, and the shower water was softened. The dispensers on the wall (probably an idea to provide more space) were weird and for sanitary reasons, not used. The bed was comfortable and the heat worked well. The lodges were not connected so a trip to the outside elements were required. The food is mediocre at best. All meals are buffets. The front desk staff were some of the friendliest I have encountered. I would return.
