We enjoyed the Alpine Village atmosphere of Loreley and Helen. 1 BD was Large enough for two, four would have been iffy. We enjoyed their amenities. Felt the mattress in the BD needed to be reviewed. Not really comfortable.
We were in an around the back unit which gave us the opportunity to see the river. The floats do not come all the way down to the Loreley.
The waterfalls should be checked out. If you go to Anna Ruby, make sure you continue on after seeing a fall, about .25 miles further for the beautiful falls. Duke's Creek is worth the time it takes to get to. I've often wondered how these things were found.

I disagree with Bruce F. Loreley is a GREAT place to stay - especially in the fall months.

I have been an owner for many years now. The units are meticulously maintained. In fact, each set of condos are only occupied only 50 weeks a year. Two weeks a year they are refurbished. Carpet is replaced, new furniture and assessories where needed. Each unit has everything you need except food. All your cooking needs are there - if you ever want to cook - there are so many places to eat around there.

I really think Bruce F is just a complainer. He really did not appreciate all that Loreley has to offer. It is centrally located in the North GA mountains with so much to do around there. If being in the mountains is your thing...this is the place to be.

It has a great indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is only open during the summer months but the indoor pool is like a tropical resort - heated year round and very clean. Even the bathrooms/changing rooms are extremely clean and heated.

One of the things that has been great over the years is that the Activities Director has gotten better and better. They have brought back the breakfast social on Mondays with local breakfast delights. It is a great way to meet the other guests and find out what is going on during the week.

Security is a great benefit of Loreley. Definately feel better with them on site. You just never know anymore. But I will say that you don't have to worry about parking. If you are not a guest or an owner, they will tow your vehicle. Loreley is a private resort.

I just don't think you will go wrong with Loreley. It is one of the nicest places to stay in Helen and the North GA mountains.

Room Tip: Really any of the Condos are a good deal. Limburg is probably the best of all the Condos because th...

Loreley has been around for a long time, but it continues to be a really nice place to stay. They frequently have units for nightly or weekly rent; so you get all the comforts of a timeshare at the price of a hotel. The resort has an outdoor and an indoor pool, they have a small gym that is well kept and a large hot tub. There is a recreation center and an activities director. The resort offers tours of the area for very reasonable prices. The resort sits on the Chatahoochee River in walking distance of downtown Helen, but far enoug away to be quiet. The units are kept clean and in good working order. The staff is friendly and efficient. This is a really good opportunity to enjoy the north Georgia mountains.

On paper this place looked fabulous. We booked a week through an RCI exchange. When we arrived we were scheduled to be in what turned out to be a poorly maintained, shabby unit that was far below the quality of what we usually get through these exchanges, although none have ever been as upscale as the Wyndham properties. Were it not for the fact that some inept housekeeping staff left a full ashtray in the living room we would have been stuck there. As a result of the housekeeping error and the fact that a family member has serious asthma, we were upgraded to a much nicer unit. This one had a little more room and a TV in the second bedroom. Unfortunately, the master bedroom had only a full size bed, and it was pretty soft. The unit, like all other, was crafted with great detail in a rustic motif. There was a fireplace which we didn't use because it was summer.

While the unit we ultimately stayed in was relatively pleasant, some modernization is in order. The unit in which we were originally booked was just a step above horrible. I imagine that since the property is fairly well booked most of the year there is little incentive to upgrade it. The property itself was beautiful, with both indoor and outdoor pools, a huge hot tub, and exercise equipment. The outdoor grills, swings, and tables, right on the Chatahoochee River add considerable charm to this place. The best feature was the staff who were wonderful in accommodating us and making sure we felt comfortable and welcome.

Would be gorgous in the fall. Two bedroom, one bath was a bit small for 4 adults. Rooms were clean, perhaps a bit dated but we were truly only interested in a place to sleep after travelling through the area. We found the beds to be just fine....we are used to a king and this had a double, but it was our fault for not checking that ahead of time. We did not think the walls were thin at all...we were there on Memorial Day Weekend and hardly heard anyone. Had an issue with a freezer/refrig, but maintenance delivered a new one...Kudos to them! The activities director was wonderful...highly recommend taking her suggestions of things to see in the area. We loved areas outside of Alpine Helen. Helen was a bit cheesy for us though we would highly recommend going to Hofers Bakery if you stay here....to die for bakery for breakfasts and lunches. We had a nice getaway. Enjoys restaurants in Clarksville.....Unicoi Lodge was great too....lots of nice waterfalls in the area. Rafting/tubing down the river is a big activity that we did not participate in but looked wonderful!

Room Tip: Lower level is two bedrooms with one bath....zero to about 5 steps to get in....upper levels has two...

After reading these reviews I was both optimistic and nervous about our upcoming stay at Loreley. I am glad to say that, based on our experience, the glass is half full! From the minute we arrived we noticed a property with well-kept grounds and buildings. Check-in was a breeze and all of the staff we encountered were very friendly. Are the units a bit dated? Maybe. Did it matter? Nope. Our unit, a 2/1 had everything we needed and was very, very clean. We had a great view of the river and enjoyed the porch. The outdoor pool is the only amenity we took advantage of but it was very nice. We noticed they have both gas and charcoal grills for guests to use, which is nice. Loreley is a few blocks from downtown Helen so its location is definitely good for those looking to be near the action. Speaking of Helen... We were unimpressed. The "town" is basically made up of junky souvenir shops, airbrush t-shirt stores and a handful of restaurants. We decided to cut the trip short and go elsewhere. Helen just wasn't for us.

After reading the reviews here, I was excited to visit Helen and hoped our resort would be nice and spacious. We got the two bedroom, one bathroom suite. It was very old and small. The carpet was filthy...my white socks were evidence of that. The beds were too soft and very squeaky. The walls/ceilings were paper thin and we could hear other guests above us. Most of the suite seemed dirty and did not have the "rustic charm" we were expecting. We were surprised to find there was no shampoo/conditioner/lotion when we arrived, limited coffee/condiments and housekeeping was nowhere to be found. So we made a stop (one of many) at the Dollar General in Helen. It was our saving grace. We stocked up on all of our essentials....shampoo, conditioner, coffee, sugar, milk, etc. The customer service at Loreley was pretty much non-existant. It seemed like we were bothering the staff with our questions. There indoor pool was nice, but small (it was too cold to swim in the outdoor pool). The indoor pool had no lockers or changing areas, so we had to leave there with wet bathing suits and return to our suite to change. Overall, we had a decent time at the Loreley, but will not return there or recommend it to our friends.
