I stayed here while attending a conference at the property. This is a first class operation in a beautiful setting. Approximately an hour east of metro Atlanta.. The staff is very well trained and courteous. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Great bathrooms! Although pricey, you definitely get what you pay for here. Fantastic spa with a nice fitness center and terrific in-door lap pool. Outdoor campfires when weather allows. Also. if golf is your thing, this is the place with 5 courses available.

We came here for a quick honeymoon- we didn't have time to go anywhere farther away. I was honestly pretty skeptical, but they really, really, really blew me away! They upgraded us to a lake-view instead of a resort view, and constantly remembered our honeymoon- free drinks, free desserts. . .it was like this at almost every meal. They also sent us a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries the final night. The staff was very personable and chatty- I imagine this was because we were the only ones there! It was so great to have the run of the place. The weather was in the 70s most of the week, so we went swimming (both inside and outside), kayaking, hiking, etc. There are hammocks and swings throughout the grounds, and lots of games- horseshoes, cornhole, and a basketball court. I imagine this place is PACKED in the summer.

It is also really cool to sit in the hotel lobby- they build a fire at night and the view is great! It was fun sitting down there reading papers, or playing cards or chess/checkers.

We had room service included every morning in our package, which was always prompt and very good, but there was a weird 21 cent overage charge, even though it was included. We also ate at Georgia's Bistro, and Linger Longer (Gaby's was closed while we were there). Georgia's was okay, but Linger Longer was AMAZING. Our waiter was incredible, and the food was amazing- we had to get it for room service another night! It is a quality restaurant- you could tell because it was the busiest part of the property-locals must go there.

Special shout out to Rendie (smores/gave us all the info) and Amanda (awesome bartender). They really made our trip special, and went out of their way to help us.

However, a few nitpicky things about their service- I imagine alot of this is due to having reduced staff in the winter. We never got the right paper to our room, and often had to go hunting around the hotel to find some. Housekeeping was uneven-not replacing shampoo, etc. There were a few little things that it seemed they were out of practice or not adequately staffed.

Overall, it was amazing. I would definitely come here again, and we hope to for an anniversary.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a Lake View! It is well worth it to sit out on the balcony and watch the sunset!

My wife and I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge every other year for her birthday since in opened. Last years stay was not a good one and I we will choose another location in the future. The Lodge is just looking shabby. The bed mattress in our room was broken down and the next morning the desk attendant apologized and took $25 off of our bill. The restaurant used to be outstanding with creative chefs. Now it is just ok. I expect more - not only from the Ritz-Carlton name but for the price we pay. This property needs a major overhaul and new management.

We spent a glorious week at this resort and I have to say that it was so relaxing and breathtaking. The staff so accomodating, evenings were spent by the fire and bond fire sipping cocktails and eating amazing somores! The rooms are wonderful each with a glorious view. We rented a pontoon boat for two days and spent them on the lake.....this was so much fun! Weather was perfect and I cannot wait to return next fall!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the lake!

We stayed for 5 days over Christmas. The staff was great. Housekeeping was great. The restaurants were very accommodating. The view was excellent. We had a suite. The only problem was the loud noises above from the club level. We heard every noise they made. The Christmas decorations were beautiful. The food was great. We hope to return soon! Great value!!!Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Choose a lake view!

The main building looks tired and is showing signs of aging but luckily we had booked a cabin. The cabin we booked had two rooms, a small kitchenette, a lovely porch and a big living room with a fireplace. The porch overlooked the lake and it was lovely to go in the morning and drink coffee. The spa was awesome, we especially like the spas that have the hot-cold treatments and the inside pool was perfect for the chilly weather. The restaurant can be monotonous after a few days so venture out into town (we didn't and we felt sorry later). Take advantage of the great fun (but costly) activities, like the Segway tour and the tubing in the lake, we had a blast...would probably return but to a cabin and not to the main hotel, that part just doesn't have the Ritz feel....

Room Tip: Go for the cabin

We stayed here when it first opened a decade ago. We were surprised when we came back that there was much wear on the hotel. It felt a little Disney-ish. Staff was very nice. We went for New Years and the band was not great. They didn't even do a countdown. Missed the mark. It's more like a four star than typical five star Ritz. But they do try hard.
