“Excursion Extraordinaire”

Such tours are all about the host and Joe Knight was extraordinary. He knew both the history and wildlife of the swamp and wrapped it with an accommodating awareness of our parties interest. I would highly recommend the adventure as a precursor to a more intensive trip or even a casual day birding or fishing. It is wonderful to have an appreciation for the wild nature and rich and colorful past of the Okefenokee Swamp. Joe provided both.

“Best part of our trip to Georgia”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

We took a 90 minute boat tour with guide Joe and thoroughly enjoyed it. We saw alligators, lots of birds and turtles and some of the most beautiful flora we've ever seen. Joe was very friendly, funny, and full of great information about the swamp. We recommend this trip to anyone of any age.

“Great Guide”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

We took the boat tour offered by Okefenokee Adventures and it was well worth the price.

The guide could not have been more accommodating. When someone in our group asked if we would see baby alligators he said that he knew where there had been some and though it was off the regular route he would take us there. But he cautioned, "No promises.", as the wildlife can not be programmed to popup on demand like on a Disney "adventure ride".

We saw a variety of birds he identified and our guide pointed out nests most of us would have missed. As we passed large turtles of different species and 'gators sunning on the bank on a cool April morning he maneuvered the boat to ensure everyone with a camera had a chance for a good photo. He reversed the boat when a passenger on-board spotted something he'd missed as we passed.

Our guide described the role of fire in the cycle of the swamp, told us about the history of the area, and pointed out several interesting and rare plants.

And we did see the young 'gators with their bright stripes.

“Absolute best way to see the Swap with Kids”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

Enjoyed a boat ride into the swamp with a 7th generation swamper. It was a very personalized tour. We got lots of information and took tons of photos. Our guide was knowledgable and perfect for kids and adults alike. He made sure we got all the alligator photos we could take and educated us on the history of the swamp, the trees, flowers, animals..there wasn't a question he didn't know the answer too. The 90 minutes was perfect for our family of four--with a 8 and 5 year old. Interesting, not to long and excited when we were able to spot hawk, crane, heron and our favorite the alligators! This is the real experience you want for your kids to see nature in all its glory. Highly highly recommend! Bring water, wear sunscreen and book your tour now!
